COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our American Pale Ale with a ton of Citra, Columbus and Cascade hops. Deep amber in color with an extremely well rounded hop and malt character. This beer gives hop heads what they are looking for without wrecking your palate; yet it is sufficiently balanced which is pleasing to many hop-timid beer drinkers. The finish is slightly dry and refreshing to the last drop. This beer will not disappoint!

Location: Draft at Capital Ale, 11/17/12

Aroma: The nose citrus fruit, some pine, caramel, malts, and bread
Appearance: This one pours a clear orange color, with a white head, and some sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet, with caramel and grains, and light-mid hoppy, with fruit and pine notes
Palate: This one has a medium body, with a clean feel, and a nice, dry finish on the mouth
Overall Impression:  Nice stuff, that I thought worked rather well. Drinks nicely. This was a nice first beer to try from Wild Wolf, and quite sessionable.

I really liked the aroma of this beer. It passes the eye test as well. It was the overall refreshing flavor that got me to give this beer such a high rating. Excellent stuff.

Nice crisp amber coloured body with a thin tan head. Aroma of bright grapefruit, piney and resinous hops - a lot of them and a touch of malt. Medium-bodied; Strong herbaceous hop flavour at first with some perceived metallic and earthy notes along with a lot of caramel and sweet notes at the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of hop bitterness with grapefruit and piney notes clearly winning out. Overall, a very potent hop presence with a good malt backbone and some nice complex flavours - much more hops than I was expecting and definitely one of the best ’ambers’ I’ve had in a while. I feel like this is an APA, but if it stays in this category - find one, because it is a great beer for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce can after a hockey game in Arlington, Virginia on 19-March-2014 - Thanks JP!

The Alpha Ale doesn’t bring much to the table, but why risk your staple APA. The aroma is very mediocre and you don’t get many hint about what you are about to taste. It is a very plain looking and in my opinion a little too clear. The taste is very average for an APA/IPA. It’s got a mild hoppy taste with a medium finish. I wish the finish was a bit more abrupt and explosive, but it doesn’t quite get there. Great carbonation, I think this might be the highlight of the beer. Overall I think Wild Wolf played it a bit safe for a beer that gets drunken regularly. I think for someone who is not used to Pale Ales it is an easy transition to jump into, but for me who loves them, doesn’t quite get there.

Terrible beer. Has a very mettalic taste and it is way bittter for an amber. I almost thought it was trying to be a pale ale too but it failed at that. Stay away.

Can. Clear dark gold, foamy head, hoppy aroma. Taste is a little off with awkward finish.

Serving: Can at Leesburg Brewing Company. It pours a dark red color with a small off white head. The nose has little to offer outside a slight toasted note. The flavor has lots of toasted malt and even a hint of nuttiness. The bitterness is strong but there is no flavor addition from the hops, just an almost acridic bitterness. Seems like a borderline brown with too much bittering hops to me. Not worth seeking out.

Can. Pours a clean reddish amber with medium off-white head and soapy lace. Nose of roasted malt, caramel, piney hops. Medium body, lots of roasted malt, medium bitterness. Don’t get any citra. Decent

From the tap poured an amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

Can. Amber pour with a small white head. The nose is big caramel and PNW woody hops. Plenty of pine. The taste is more caramel and resinous hop bitterness. A bit toasty. Legitimately quite bitter on the finish. Medium body, fine carbonation.
