COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark, rich stout; black in color with a tan head. Our American Stout has a rich mouthfeel, a rich dark chocolate taste and a slightly roasty middle. This beer finishes with a little hop bitterness to round it all out.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Almost black pour with a small tan head. Surprisingly light aroma, some dusty chocolate, earthiness, a bit of acidity and dark fruits. The flavor follows suit. Not bad.

Appearance: nearly black, with a giant foamy dark brown head. Aroma: strong pine and resin, medium coffee and general roast. Taste: as the aroma indicated. Finish: dry and bitter, with piney hops and bittersweet dark chocolate the prominent lingering flavors. Notes: Palate was pretty creamy. Roasty and bold flavors. Perfectly acceptable stout. NoVA Brewfest 2013.

Roasty aroma, weak coffee notes. Cola brown, medium yellow head. Charred oak and coffee flavor with a raspberry tinge that doesn’t seem to belong.

Aromas of chocolate, berries, and earthy hops. Almost black, with ruby highlights, and a beige head of good retention. Somewhat sweet with chocolate and coffee flavors, and supportive bitterness. Full bodied, creamy, with low carbonation, and an earthy, chocolatey finish, with lingering bitterness.

Had a sample of this beer at the brewpub. This particular brew poured a pretty dark color, practically black, with a tiny tan head. Aroma was some roasted notes. Pretty darn good.

Foxbush (1212) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - NOV 25, 2012
1/2 pint at the brewpub The dark balack beer had a small head with lacing. The stout had a rich roasted malt aroma. Chocolate was also detected to taste. This is a seasonal beer that had average carbonation. There was an astringent taste at the finish.

Velkyal (275) - Gordonsville, Virginia, USA - APR 28, 2012
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee and spice with a back note of wet dog. Taste is overwhelmed by a roasted bitterness bordering on acrid astrigency. Lacking balance and maybe some sweetness.

Drake (7926) - Free Union, Virginia, USA - DEC 30, 2010
Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color appearing opaque black when poured. Huge brown head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts and a faint earthy note. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, minty hops and cherry-like fruit notes. Thin bodied. Slightly watery.
