Taster at Brewers Rendezvous. Pours a medium white head over a slightly hazy amber (SRM 13) body......nose is toffee/caramel, light smoke....taste is toffee/caramel, light smoke, with a light bitter finish, and hints of burnt sugars.....mouth feel medium, minimally astringent, carbonation adds light acid. This is a nice balanced variation on a common style. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

On tap @ Wild Woods. Amber pour with a white head. Weird feet aroma. Sweet caramel, dirt, and earthy hops. Really something off about the nose. Flavor is dirt, bread, and toast. Strong earth, smoke, and grass. Did not like this.

bubbleflubber (1746) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUL 20, 2013
On tap at Wild Woods Brewing, this pours a clear deep amber with a ring of suds. The nose is of grain and hay. Flavors of smoked caramel, some yeasty esters, lemony citrus and finishes with a smoked estery malt that curtails with a balancing bitter. The mouthfeel was round and smooth with a medium body and soft carbonation. Nice effort here from a great microbrewery.

On tap at Wild Woods poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, light fruittiness and a hint of smoke with a smooth lingering carmel finish.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish pour with white head, aroma brought notes of slight rye, smoke, hints of caramel, biscuit, some slight orange, red fruit notes, hints of grass, earth, lots of spice notes as well. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, rye, slight smoky and roasted notes, hints of earth, nice spice, slight fruity notes, finishing sweet, slightly bitter.

Tap @ Wild Woods Brewery. Pours a fairly clear, red-orange appearance with an off white head. The smoked malts show up a bit in the aroma but very little in the flavor. Some decent toasty, caramel malty notes in there. Eh, ok. Drinkable.

sweet red apple and maraschino cherry crystal malt with heavy touches of honey / fruit melanoidin. syrupy and flabby. very basic with nothing redeeming and the smoked malt is basically nonexistent.

Clear amber with a thin spotty white head. Nose of crystal malts and light caramel with just a hint of smoke. Smooth mellow flavor of crystal maltiness, earthy caramel, and just the lightest kiss of smoke. Pretty well rounded with a nice balancing bitterness throughout.

Brouwerij (914) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Pours a clear red-amber with a finger of diminishing light tan head, some lacing. Mild aroma, malt and wheat/grain/hay. Flavor is slightly smoky up front, fading into nutty, roasted malt, and caramel tones. Nice full-bodied flavor. Moderate carbonation and medium body. Not as malty as some red ales, but the smokiness gives it a nice complexity. A tasty beer.
