3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Wilde Rose Gausthaus Bamberg. Pale brown clear lasting off white head. Fuller in the mouth than the helles still got a good hop bite on the finish. Decent kellerbier but too clean. Too precise. Ues it’s got the malty feel and the hoppy finish. But a little too clean. Finish though is really dry.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap from their Stube, right near Grüner Markt. A beautiful amber-copper body, clear with a very rocky off-white head. Light body with light grain, straw, hay, yeast, caramel, nuts, toffee, light earth, wow! Semi-sweet with light bitterness that really cleans the palate.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Gasthof Wilde Rose: Bronze with a blonde cast. Very tight small-bubbled white head. Clean, rustic and perfumey nose of toffee, nuts and a suggestion of herbal hops. Silky carbonation. Pleasant mouthfeel. Vivid nutty malts greet the palate along with a delightfully bouncy Pils malt and dusty melanoidin combo. Malt is clean to the point of enhancing the dryness as it absorbs some saliva and subsequently effortlessly dovetails with an ensuing snap of herbaceous hops. Twinge of orange- and peach-imbued fruitiness augments the juicy hop smack. Closes with supremely fresh, springy malt which evokes thoughts of toasted honey-drizzled biscuit and hay, and a dab of mineral for balancing stiffness. The balance here is phenomenal, as are the myriad delicacies. Perhaps TOO subtle for its own good. More of everything and this would be utterly stellar. Wilde Rose is a charming little

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated at Wilde Rose (the hotel-restaurant near the town’s big shopping area) in Nov 2011.
Head is fully lasting
Body is medium amber-brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of earth, minerals, and black tea.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Quite delicious and clean. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised based on my liking of their pils years ago, but no one talks much about this brewery and yet they’re one of the best in the city.
