UPDATED: MAY 16, 2007 Draft pint at the brewpub; They bring this out in a gigantic goblet ... gotta be 20 oz of beer, ’tender says it’s 1/2 liter ... (holy crap, OK, I shared it with the wife). Deep red-tinged gold color with a light starchy nose. Nice balance ... malty, to be sure, but also with a pleasant Bohemian hoppy bite to round it off. Goes great with the awesome fish and chips I had! (#2875, 5/13/2007)

Draft at the brewpub. Crisp pale yellow body with a small creamy white head, and nice lacing. (3+) Floral noble hops, grassy straw notes. Light lemon note in the flavour, similar hops to the aroma with floral grassy bitterness. Average palate. A pretty solid pilsener!

Draught at the brewpub
Blond color; creamy head. It has an interesting hoppy aroma, almost manure. Some malt flavor, a touch of hay, dry mouthfeel, also because of the extreme bitterness, with a good grassy hopping. The final is long, maybe just a bit harsh. Not stylish, but appreciated.

Unlike what Miikka Kiprusoff probably drinks (turpentine), this is a nice Pilsner, hoppy, and with a sharp finish. Slightly cloudy and very refreshing. Definitely an enjoyable beer.

Quite a bit of cabbage in the nose (though not nearly as much as in the Golden Ale) but also some notable graininess and a hint of grassy, lightly spicy hop character. Brilliantly clear golden body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, white head that recedes to a lasting cover and laces very nicely. Moderate bitterness and clean malt flavour just about conceal the light cabbage flavour. Crisp, fine bubbled effervescence that awakens the tongue. Refreshing, medium-light body. Comes across to me as a pils in the German vein and quite a decent one at that. Sampled on tap at the restaurant.

[816-20071105] Tap @ Wildwood (Calgary, AB). Mild sweaty yeast aroma has something edgier lurking in the background. Clear, yellow body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Grassy yeast hops flavour has a leafy aftertaste. Light-medium body. Interesting twist to a pilsener, would also do well with a citrus complement.

(Draught) Sampled on February 8, 2008, at the brewpub. Long lasting, white head with a gold mildly carbonated body. Nose is crisp, corn and wheat. Flavour is nicely balanced with a very pleasant European malt and saaz hops.

A: Poured with an average-sized, white head... spare lacing left on the sides of the glass. Body is a dark yellow, and clear and mostly flat. S: Aroma is of light hops, nothing more... hard to distinguish anything, actually. T: Crisp and dry, with a slightly bitter finish. Nothing special to set it apart from other pilsners, but still fairly enjoyable. M: Light-bodied with an oily texture, and average carbonation. D: A pretty decent example of a Czech pilsner, but I’d likely try something a little more inventive next time if I had the choice.

Clear straw colour with a frothy white head. Clean grainy aroma, slightly sweet. Refreshing grainy palate with subtle hop character and a soundly bitter finish. Very good.

Clear golden pour. Aroma of some banana and grass. Taste is upfront hops that remain through the finish. Turns a bit sweet in the middle but quickly fades. Better than your average.
