500ml Bottle from Morrisons (£1.50):
Rich with some chocolate and darker malts initially plus some sweeter malts and a hint of caramel and toffee. There are a few lighter, caramel hops and some milk chocolate.
Dark mahogany brown colour with a pretty thin looking, foamy head that is light brown in colour and stays as a consistent covering.
Sweet and milky chocolate plus some good, darker malts. The chocolate was backed up with a little spice, a nutty caramel flavour and some light hints of toffee towards the end. The beer is pretty creamy tasting and is rounded of with some earthy hops and a touch of bitterness.
Medium bodied but still fairly thick and with a good, creamy texture. There is a good smoothness to the beer and carbonation is moderate with a dry finish and some nice sweetness throughout.
Quite a nice sweet and milk chocolatey flavour that seemed more like a light milk stout than a Scottish ale but an enjoyable offering regardless and one that I’d have again.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours dark brown in color with fluffy tan head. Smokey
wood, seawater, notes of chocolate and ashes in aroma. Slightly
sweet, fudge perhaps, with some light hints of burnt wood in taste.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mighty_meadow (102) - Kilwinning, SCOTLAND - FEB 17, 2013
Pours dark brown with a red tinge. Looks a bit like supermarket own brand cola. Disappointing thin head. Malty, roast aroma. Tastes of brown bread, leaves, bitter fruit (plum?), Bit too watery on the palate with a gentle carbonation. Quite a bit to find fault with but the further down the glass I got, the more I found to like in this beer.

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with stable creamy beige head. Clear aroma of malt and fruit. Pleasant, refreshing mouthfeel. Creamy, malty flavour enriched by a hoppy note towards the end. Dryish aftertaste. A nice one.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Had huge hopes in it. In the end it was just a dull, tasteless watery disappointment. Nothing else to say about that one.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 McTapps (1463) - Ruhrgebiet, GERMANY - FEB 14, 2013
First bottle of this style and expected something like a mixture between a strong Scotch Ale and a "normal" ale, but nothing that tastes like a light smoked beer....it has got a deep dark colour with low but steady head and smooth body. Taste of camp fire, smoked sausages, smoked salmon, wood and malt. Too smoky to me, just awful to drink.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ThirstyBird (416) - Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JAN 31, 2013
Pours a deep clear brown with orange highlights and a tan head. The smell is burnt caramel, roasted malt, a touch of smoke. The taste is a bit bittersweet. A touch of sweetness up front quickly turning to a dry, char ending. Medium body plus average carbonation. A nice beer with lots of flavor for a lower ABV brew.

Znakomite szkockie ale. Goryczkowe i jeszcze raz goryczkowe. Finisz goryczkowy, wyczuwalny w smaku palony słód, choć w zapachu już nie jest aż tak intensywny. Świetne i pijalne piwo, nie męczy. Można się zadumać nad tradycyjnym ale.
