3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Maker: Williams Brothers (Heather Ales), Alloa, Scotland ***
Beer: Birds and Bees (cask at The Standing Order, Edinburgh) ***
Style: Golden Ale ***
ALC.VOL.: 4.3% ***
Colour: Straw yellow, clear. Minimal head. ***
Nose: Elderflower, citrus, floral notes. ***
Texture: Light body, not too watery. Minimal carbonation. ***
Taste: Elderflowers (they’re included in the brew) register immediately, first taste is intensely floral, with a lemon note. Hardly bitter at all. Very modest bitterness in the middle, again floral notes and a hint of lemon. Finish still not really bitter, short aftertaste, a bit bitter. ***
Impressions: Individually flavoured golden ale, the elderflowers being an asset. Bitterness could be higher to sharpen the taste profile.

cask at Hating Room, I mean Waiting Room. wife like this in the bottle but I don’t recall ever having it on cask... very nice however. no head to speak of, delicate aroma, taste a combination of floral, citrus, elderflower? plus lightly bitter finish. very sessionable. superior to the bottled version IMO.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 16th October 2012. Amber. Dying head vanishes. Fruity, slightly cheesy aroma. Vanilla and floral hops in-mouth, with some grass. Finish is floral, grassy and herby. Light mouthfeel and a fair amount of body for the strength.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned handpump Wenlock Arms London 16/05/12. A slightly hazy yellowgold coloured beer with a bright white head. A really lemony beer. Almost seems artificial in its fruitiness. A bit of flowery sweetness. Possibly not at its best.
