Nice and simple, this is not a bad thing. If i could take this everywhere with me as a standard beer it would be great, nice and solid

It has an aroma of great barley notes with some spiciness, has a perfect long-lasting head and black-amber body. Flavour is a reliable barley and maltiness but rather simplistic. Medium mouthfeel with a dry finish. It’s a decent drinkable stout, but middling for the style.

Half, served from cask at the Red Squirrel. Creamy, tan-coloured head that laces well. Deep, dark brown coloured body. Roasted earthy malts on the nose. Dark malty flavours of chocolate and dark bread. Slightly roasted endnotes. Creamy texture. Quite alright, a bit thin bodied though (Edinburgh 07.08.2013).

Keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh. Pours black with a tiny white creamy head.Aroma of toasted malts, liquorice and coffee. Taste is moderate bitter, coffee, some chocolate and liquorice, which I am very fond of, so a good one in my book.

Keg at Inn Deep, Glasgow 19/6/2013. Near black with a tight, off-white head. Easy drinking stout with some chocolate and roasted malts, before a dryish finish. Good.

Keg at The Cardinal’s Hat, Worcester. Black with cream head. There is an immediate flavour of chocolate despite the low temperature, quite creamy with some bitterness as well. There is a charry note to the malt. Fullish on the palate. Not bad.

Cask at Inn Deep. A black stout with a slim creamy white head. Aroma coffee and caramel. Taste some nice sweetness, molasses and coffee with a nice bitter chocolate. Smooth and pleasant.

On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours opaque black with a nice creamy head. The nose has dark chocolate but mostly coffee. The taste has more coffee with a creamy backdrop note. The palate is medium bodied, with a creamy texture and a smooth creamy finish. Overall, a good stout.Does this actually have coffee added?

Pint @ Inn Deep, Glasgow (£3.20):
Roasted malts and some mild coffee notes with a touch of caramel. There is some background sweetness and a solid, medium strength stout aroma to the beer. Nothing out of character but a pleasant smell beer with hints of chocolate too.
Deep black colour with a thin, off-white and foamy head that leaves some lacing on the sides.
Sweet, roasted malts to begin with as well as some darker caramel flavouring and again a nice, mild stout taste that goes down well. There is some burnt coffee too.
Smooth and creamy one with a medium body and a slightly sweet mouthfeel. Carbonation was about medium and the balance was a good one.

A nice stout that went down well, had a solid stout taste and a nice creamy feel to it. There wasn’t much out of the ordinary as far as stouts go but the flavours were well balanced and it proved an easy beer to drink.

Aroma:Chocolate, smoke and liquorice.

Appearance: Black body with ruby highlights. Medium cream head. Great lacing.

Taste: Lovely charcoal, smoky, earthy quality. Dark chocolate, and liquorice, too. Light bitterness.

Palate: Thin to medium body with a slick, oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: A bit thin, but a tasty, simple Stout nonetheless.
