On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours opaque black with a nice creamy head. The nose has dark chocolate but mostly coffee. The taste has more coffee with a creamy backdrop note. The palate is medium bodied, with a creamy texture and a smooth creamy finish. Overall, a good stout.Does this actually have coffee added?

Pint @ Inn Deep, Glasgow (£3.20):
Roasted malts and some mild coffee notes with a touch of caramel. There is some background sweetness and a solid, medium strength stout aroma to the beer. Nothing out of character but a pleasant smell beer with hints of chocolate too.
Deep black colour with a thin, off-white and foamy head that leaves some lacing on the sides.
Sweet, roasted malts to begin with as well as some darker caramel flavouring and again a nice, mild stout taste that goes down well. There is some burnt coffee too.
Smooth and creamy one with a medium body and a slightly sweet mouthfeel. Carbonation was about medium and the balance was a good one.

A nice stout that went down well, had a solid stout taste and a nice creamy feel to it. There wasn’t much out of the ordinary as far as stouts go but the flavours were well balanced and it proved an easy beer to drink.

Aroma:Chocolate, smoke and liquorice.

Appearance: Black body with ruby highlights. Medium cream head. Great lacing.

Taste: Lovely charcoal, smoky, earthy quality. Dark chocolate, and liquorice, too. Light bitterness.

Palate: Thin to medium body with a slick, oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: A bit thin, but a tasty, simple Stout nonetheless.

Keg at Red Squirrel. Dark red/black with a tan head. Standard stout roast and chocolate charateristics. Nice enough but too thin.

Pours a really dark almost pitch with a mahogany on the fringes, nose is nose is chocolate and liquorice Taste dark malt quite weak dark chocolate hollow mouthful, would have prefixed a thicker mouthful, but this serves its purpose. Not bad via Beer Buddy

(Cask at Red Squirrel) AROMA: licorice, nuts, toast, APPEARANCE: black, clear, minimal head, brown foam, TASTE: medium bitterness, PALATE: medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, bitter, OVERALL: one-dimensional porter, mostly licorice, ok, but not one to look out for.

Keg @ Red Squirrel, Edinburgh 021012
Black, dense rich tan head, good lacing
Aroma - not helped by the cold keg dispense...soft roast malts, soft plain chocolate, cocoa powder
Taste as aroma, nice deep dark malts in there, mellow, touch of molasses, hint of toffee, smooth
Palate - medium carb and body, quite oily, smooth texture. Finish as main flavour, smooth mellow roast chocolate malts
Overall - Good tasting but simple stout - I don’t think keg works all that well with this beer though. I reckon on cask might be around 3.7

Keg @ Inn Deep. Very dark brown colour with a reddish hue, reasonable head. Big fruity Christmas pudding aroma. Fruity coffee malt flavour, bitter sweet aftertaste. Average stout.
