Clear dark red - black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, strong coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, strong coffee, roasted, sweet roasted, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

From cask at Inn Deep. Pours dark brown to black, deep amber glare with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish, chocolate too. Dark malty, creamy and breadish. Bitter, dry and hoppy into a roasted malty and dry finish. Slight off tang in the flavour. Toffee, liqourice and roasted malty finish.

Keg at The Cardinal’s Hat, Worcester. Black with cream head. There is an immediate flavour of chocolate despite the low temperature, quite creamy with some bitterness as well. There is a charry note to the malt. Fullish on the palate. Not bad.

Half, served from cask at the Red Squirrel. Creamy, tan-coloured head that laces well. Deep, dark brown coloured body. Roasted earthy malts on the nose. Dark malty flavours of chocolate and dark bread. Slightly roasted endnotes. Creamy texture. Quite alright, a bit thin bodied though (Edinburgh 07.08.2013).

2014-06-28. Ruby tinged black body with a modest brown head. 3+ Aroma is mild, light cocoa like dusty roast, mild fruity undertones. Flavour is surprisingly mild and fruity, dusty musty cocoa hints and a not quite roasty character to it. Average bodied palate, light carbonation is a bit thin and very much so for a stout. Keg at Inn Deep, Glasgow 19/6/2013. Near black with a tight, off-white head. Easy drinking stout with some chocolate and roasted malts, before a dryish finish. Good.

Keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh. Pours black with a tiny white creamy head.Aroma of toasted malts, liquorice and coffee. Taste is moderate bitter, coffee, some chocolate and liquorice, which I am very fond of, so a good one in my book.

Keg @ Inn Deep. Very dark brown colour with a reddish hue, reasonable head. Big fruity Christmas pudding aroma. Fruity coffee malt flavour, bitter sweet aftertaste. Average stout.
