Clear golden beer with a thin foamy white head. Sour, fruity smell with a hint of lemon coming through. Flavour has the same qualities with the lemon coming slightly more to the fore, but there’s a slight doughiness to the flavour too. Aftertaste is a touch tart. Crisp and drinkable.

Bottle from the Cromwell Road Sainsbury’s. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is citrus/floral. Near med body. Flavor is citrus/floral with a strong herb/grass component. Nice, but light, malt support. It is hoppy and bitter. In the US this would be a session IPA or similar. Or IPL.

Bottle from a Tesco in Oban. Golden with a frothy white head. Lemony citrus aroma. The taste has quite a bit of of citrus hop flavour and a touch of grapefruit too. There’s a little underlying caramel. Nicely light and refreshing. Very nice for summer drinking.

Bottle from Tesco, Prestwich. Straw-blonde coloured with a thin head. There’s certainly a fusion of styles here with lager malt most evident in its nose. There’s some malts, but much more hop, and very much an ale texture. Mildly fruity.

Maker: Williams Brothers, Alloa, Scotland *** Beer: Caesar Augustus (cask, at the Alexander Graham Bell, Edinburgh) *** Style: Lager *** ALC.VOL.: 4.1% *** "A lager & IPA hybrid, micro-brewed for maximum flavor" *** Colour: Straw yellow, clear. Small off-white head. *** Nose: Lemon, pinewood, floral hops. *** Texture: Medium body, extreme carbonation. *** Taste: Intense floral hops, lemon zest, pinewood and herbs at the start, all somewhat overpowered by the ballistic carbonation. More generically floral, but still very much so, toward the middle. Lemony in the finish, some pinewood, grass. Floral notes continue to dominate into the medium long aftertaste. *** Impressions: I do recommend to let the tapped beer sit in the glass for a while so that some of the first strike carbonation can evaporate and the ice cold beer gets a degree or two warmer. Then it’s a startlingly good hybrid (indeed!) of lager and IPA. This beer is all about the hops.

Bottle. Pours a simple, yet pure gold, with a slowly receding white head. Nice citrus and spruce hop nose - interesting actually! Lots of hop character, which is prominent in the mouthfeel. Finishes quickly - perhaps the lager quality - which makes it nicely refreshing too. Almost seems like a rather plain lager that was saved, if not greatly elevated, by the IPA elements. Nicely done I think!

Bottled tesco. Thin light gold colour. Nice full rocky head. Not much nose or flavour at front if mouth but hoppyness kicks in but lightly . Nice and moreish without too much flavour. Could sink a few
