Light fruity scent. Initial flavor is pretty mellow. Elderberry starts quickly on the palate. It's nice. I like how the darker flavors calm. Slight sweetness. I might get it again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Annorlunda. Smak och doft av choklad, fläderbär, enbär. Rund och söt med en lätt beska.

Nice Dark color with a medium tan head. Aromas are roasted malts, coffee, raisins and licorice, with a hint of eldberry. I'm not really into fruit beer but this one is tasy and balanced. The elderberry is discreet. A nice fruity black ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2013 SMAK: Slodki posmak kwiatowy oraz czekoladowy , wyczuwalne slody palone, na finiszu lekko wytrawne. Troche przypomina porter . Czu? równie? jaki? dziwny posmak, moze to ten mirt bagienny? ZAPACH: Slodowosc palona, troche czekolady. Ogólnie skojarzylo mi sie z porterem. WYGL?D : Kolor czarny jak w stoucie, nawet pod swiatlo nic nie przenika. Piana ciemno bezowa, na poczatku zbita, ale szybko znika. Do konca zostaje obwodka. Ciekawe, na pewno warto spróbowac

A black beer with a thin head and fruity, slightly sour aroma. The flavour is a bit disappointing because it’s subtle to the point of blandness. You can taste the berries and what I think the bottle mentions as roasted grain but it’s not strong enough to be distinctive.

A- Deep, opaque brown/black. Beautiful, rich, thick, DEEP dark tan head that lasts forever. Even with an appropriate pour, the head was deeper than I’d ever seen. Nice lacing. S- A very very slight berry taste. Roasted malt. Chocolatey. Reflected in the taste below. T- I don’t know what elderberries taste like, but this does have a distinct fruity, berry taste--but not much! Just a slight, crisp, note. That slight fruity (NOT citrusy) taste is not what this beer’s about. It mainly has a toasty taste. A slight chocolatey taste as well, but light. Three notes that really work well together, and none are over-powering. M- Very nice, slightly carbonated, stays on the tongue and palate long enough to enjoy, but doesn’t cling. Chewable, but not too rich at all. FAR superior to the Fraoch Heather Ale. Well worth the $3.25 for 11.2 oz. bottle. (Would still prefer a pint size bottle.)

This beer tastes exactly as it is described on the bottle. An even, lightly flavoured stout with hints of fruit and lots of roasted grain. This is what guinness would taste like if it was brewed properly. Recommended, for the style.

Cask at Fountainhead. Pours nearly black with some purplish tint at the edge. Nose is interesting, light fruit and berry and some peaty smoke. Mild tart notes in the nose as well. On taste, it is on the sweet side. The berry lends some fruity notes to the palate but overall it comes across as a bit odd. Perhaps time could better integrate the smoky phenols with the fruit and roasted malt, but maybe not. Meh.

Cask @ the Pub Hampton VA: Dark roasted malt and raisin aroma, not strong. Black headless. LIttle to no carbonation, boozy. Berry flavor, static. Unimpressive.
