ClubGonzo (4226) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a dark golden body with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is fresh fruity grass-like hops with hints of gooseberries and lime. Taste is pale malts, fruity touches of gooseberry and mild grass tones in the finish. Smooth and not too challenging, but very pleasant. Also, it is very, very drinkable; this might just be one of the best "session IPA"s Iíve had. A quite all right British IPA, all in all and a bit underrated IMO.

Good floral and evergreen scent emanate from this one, which is really more of a straight pale ale. It doesnít feel hopped enough to have the India tag. Strange, this beer is bitter, but not classically hoppy. Upon checking the ingredients to figure out this discrepancy, one notes the addition of wheat, which does explain the hazy appearance and sweetness. This brewer is known for some strange brews, but this one looked straightforward. Now Iím looking at it again under better light and there is a ton of yeast suspension. Canít pin this down at all...but still not an IPA.

poured from imported 500ml bottle (little past freshness date) - Damn, nice second offering from the brothers over there in Scotland. High pine, citrus, and a tad dark fruit in there. Definitely drier than your average American ipa. "Not bad!" were the first words out of my mouth upon first taste. Lots of flavor for a relatively low-alcohol ipa. Iíd drink again.

Pours a light amber with little head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, mild hops. Light to medium bodied with a pretty good palate and a decently sharp acidic/carbonation kick at the end.

Bottle at Bishops Folkunga, named Scottish Joker I.P.A. Clear golden with a sort bubbly cask like head. Caramel, butter, oranges, apricots and flowers on the nose. Quite much the same in the taste with a grassy bitter end. Medium to slight thinner body with soft tickling carbonation and some watery notes. A quite good refreshing british IPA I wouldnít mind having as a regular on cask.

Pours golden with short lasting head. Malty aroma, slight citrus note. Taste is mixed malt, caramel, slight fruit, bit confused, metallic. Dry finish. Not great
