3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2011 Bottle from Global Wines, Bearwood. Really enjoyed this one. I supped this on Christmas Day and even though it was unrefrigerated and I was heavily hungover, I still liked it - thatís gotta be good right? Good hope flavour - dusty, with some sour juice. Light on the tongue etc. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle, best before July 2011. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy dark gold color with a half inch off-white head. Head retention is OK, with a good amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is bready malt, and some citrusy hops and butterscotch. Taste is citrusy hops, grainy malt, and a bit of grassy hops and spice. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, itís a bit slick with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is decent, itís not hard to drink at all. Itís not a bad overall brew, Iíll have to try this one again in the future.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
IPAs are big hoppy ales. There are times when a lighter IPA such as this one would do. Who always needs an ale on its way to India by a three rigger around the Cape of Good Hope? Resinous nose - whoops, there goes the wine tasting nomenclature. The sweetness of the malt pokes through slighty and then the hops hit but they are attentuated and donít rip your tongue out as do the big bold IPAs. Golden color with nice legs on the lacing. Big white head at first that diminishes quickly. There is something heartherly - or is it heavenly? - about this IPA. Oh, wait, perhaps this is the result of the previous ale - Wiliams Heather Ale. Nah, the palate was cleared. This a summer IPA for those who think it is all about the big bold IPAs..
