3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de.
Black colour with small to average size tan head.
Roasted malt, liquorice, salt, mild coffee and mild chocolate in aroma.
Flavour is roasted malt, liquorice, salty liquorice, mild coffee and mild hops. It’s not creamy and it’s not that smooth but it’s refreshing and good. Quite simple Dry Stout. I like this.

From the bottle. Dark and smooth. Chocolate and coffee notes, very pleasant in the mouth. A nice bitterness. A top beer.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml dark bottle from Tesco. Smooth and attractive dark beer with chocolate and roasted notes. Finishes with a gentle rasp. Easy drinking and very pleasant. Didn’t notice the coriander and orange zest, but I assume they did their bit to add to the pleasant taste. Hmm - I could be persuaded there is a coriander warmth in the finish. Decent drop. [3.6]

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask handpull at SRAF 2012. Dark black/brown, thin bubbly cap. Nice burnt malts on the nose, dark chocolate, touch of coffee, herbal hints and maybe a touch of smoke. Dry malts, weetabix, dark cocoa, coffee, some piney hop hints, creamy mouthfeel and a dry roast linger. Very good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
dark brown, slightly coke-like colour. pours a brown head that quickly settles out. looks pleasing and rather full. The aromascape is controlled by chocolate and malts with a spicy and herby twist. wood and light smoke. Reminds me slightly of the Kelpie seaweed ale. The taste is very light overall and has a strong emphasis on the aftertaste where the tingling nuances come to life. There is a bit of every taste here in a very sophisticated manner, very balanced and light, but strong in character so that every detailed can be picked out separately and enjoyed and played with.
the palate goes very well with the character, having a light body with a slightly dry but moist enough texture. I like this beer: very easy to enjoy but does not patronise its drinker. Deep tastes, so much to go back to all the time.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is quite a nice beer. Quite a strong chocolatey/liquorice aroma which carries on throughout the taste. Quite a thick and bitter ale yet it does have a smooth element to it. Rounds off with a long and bitter coffee taste.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home served cellar cool in a wide mouthed snifter. Dark brown to the point of opacity, dense off white head. Mocha and nuts in the aroma, ccontinuing in the taste. All the usual suspects are present in this stout - licquorice, coffee, fruit and nut chocolate, dark jammy fruit, soy, but leaning towards a dry biscuity finish. Slick creamy smooth mouth feel. Very enjoyable beer.

Bottled (thanks fonefan!). Deep rubyish copper colour with a mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity, roasted, mild liquorice and some sweet maltyness. Flavour is rather similar with some mild chocolate added.
