50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of licorice, roasted malt, dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. Surprisingly thin and light. Some flavour of salty licorice in the end. Very short aftertaste. Easy to drink, but a bit disappointing.

Medium beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep reddish brown at edges; shows slight carbonation. Chocolatey toffee aroma with roasty earthy notes. Dryish roasty salty licorice taste with earthy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish roasty earthy aftertaste with blackberry and toffee notes. Nice, drinkable. Girlfriend-approved, even. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

500ml bottle. Pours dark but not opaque. Thin white head disappears rapidly. Smooth but not creamy in the mouth. Bitter dark chocolate, toasty, roasty, hoppy. More of a porter than a stout in my opinion. A bit thin and watery but very drinkable none-the-less.

Aroma: Coffee, burnt toast, smoked bacon, cherries and raisins.

Appearance: Very dark brown with a medium tan head that retains well. Lively carbonation. Decent lacing.

Taste: Roasted malt, coffee and rich fruit. Nice bitter finish.

Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Very fizzy carbonation.

Overall: Quite fizzy for a stout, but very smooth tasting and moreish.

Cool concept/label/name. Big aroma--roasted and pleasant with a little bacon (Canadian bacon), too. Dark brown/black, no ruby. Low bitterness. Goes especially well with wheat bread. Decent body. Not bad at all. (cask at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, Edinburgh, June 2012)

500 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de.
Black colour with small to average size tan head. Roasted malt, liquorice, salt, mild coffee and mild chocolate in aroma. Flavour is roasted malt, liquorice, salty liquorice, mild coffee and mild hops. Itís not creamy and itís not that smooth but itís refreshing and good. Quite simple Dry Stout. I like this.

500ml dark bottle from Tesco. Smooth and attractive dark beer with chocolate and roasted notes. Finishes with a gentle rasp. Easy drinking and very pleasant. Didnít notice the coriander and orange zest, but I assume they did their bit to add to the pleasant taste. Hmm - I could be persuaded there is a coriander warmth in the finish. Decent drop. [3.6]
