3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Clear, opaque colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Mildly roasted malty aroma with spicy notes of liquorice, milk chocolate, leather and a pleasant background of flowery and subtle fruity aroma hops. Slightly bitter flavour, light to almost medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Discreetly roasted malt-character with present notes of chocolate and hints of leather; dry-ish mildly roasty and hop-bitter finish. Might be a good session-Stout. 16.III.12

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of soy sauce, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with a thin roasted malt, caramel, and a bit of soy sauce, leading to a dry roasted finish. Thanks yespr for this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml Bottle, best before Dec 2012, poured into a vase shaped ’Old Speckled Hen’ pint glass on 29 Nov 2011.
Deep, dark ruby red body, weak, thin wispy covering on top.
Smell of chocolate, ground coffee beans and baked shortbread biscuits. I might try this beer hot next time!
The taste is very simular to the aromas, with some keen carbonisation to give the sweet malty flavours a spritzy feel in the mouth. Some of the ingrediants listed on the label (Coriander and Orange Zest) I couldn’t find, although it was a lovely tasting beer. Without a doubt a Stout, not a Scottish Ale at all.
My enjoyment of this beer was hightened by my football team winning 6-0 as I reviewed it!
