Bottle from Beer Essentials, Horsham. Fine lasting lacey tan head over dark beer. Subtle aroma: dark berries, burnt Toast. Thick and smooth in the mouth. Complex subtle yet persistent flavours: berries, pastry, dandelion and burdock, chocolate, roast malt. Moderate carbonation. Low bitterness, very easy drinking. Slightly dry, herbal, dark malty finish.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Black with next to no head. It’s thinner than expected stout with a slightly soapiness to its roasted malt taste, but this is more of the barley influence than anything else. Fairly easy drinking for its style.
