50cl bottle BB 05/2014, Maruhn. Expected some kind of backstory or oblique sales pitch about the penguins and their march, but they remain unexplained and fresh as the exotic ingredients in this unusual fresh stout. Light, almost thin mf, pleasant herbal and subdominant fruity hop character which turned out to might have been the coriander& orange zest, Witbier elements. Good malt balance between roast, faint chocolate + chalk = Nesquick. Subtle, almost unpresuming brew.

At a tasting, thanks troubles, deep brown colour with reddish taints, aroma of roasted barley and coffee, flavour of charred wood, burned sugar, and dark bread, quite sour with a light bitterness. Nice but too light bodied.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks troubles. Black. Aroma of dark chocolate and cocoa, somewhat roasty. Roasty flavor with chocolate, a bit of dark fruits hints, a bit of sweetness and a slightly bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Mostly opaque colour but a slight red tinge. Smell is very interesting - mostly aniseed to start with some liquorice, spice and smoke coming through. Smell is complex, and it’s the best aspect of the beer. Taste is mainly chocolatey, but it’s not a very intense or complex taste. Mouthfeel is semi-foamy. Decent beer overall.

Bottle. Chocolate orange aroma. Flavour is rich and creamy chocolate, liqourice and more orange with a bitter coffee finish. A good stout.

A very good stout! What a pleasant surprise. The previous stout Williams Bros Black was weaker than this. This one has more body and the higher alcohol provides a better experience. This is a very tasty stout!

Bottled, 500ml from Tesco, Uttoxeter, Staffs. Dark brown with cream head. Quite a rich malty, roasty beer, decent fullish palate with a liquorice aftertaste. Good depth, liked it.
