Bottled, 500ml from Tesco, Uttoxeter, Staffs. Dark brown with cream head. Quite a rich malty, roasty beer, decent fullish palate with a liquorice aftertaste. Good depth, liked it.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Roast, licorice and a hint of salt in the aroma. Medium bodied. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweetish, slightly roasty caramelly flavor with a hint of licorice. Well done.

Bottle: Deep amber coloured with a ruby sheen, stable mid-sized off-white head, mild to moderate fruity and roasty nose, cacao-powder detectable as well; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and soft; creamy roasty and fruity finish, bitter chocolate in the aftertaste. Good stuff....

(bottle) Clear, opaque colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Mildly roasted malty aroma with spicy notes of liquorice, milk chocolate, leather and a pleasant background of flowery and subtle fruity aroma hops. Slightly bitter flavour, light to almost medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Discreetly roasted malt-character with present notes of chocolate and hints of leather; dry-ish mildly roasty and hop-bitter finish. Might be a good session-Stout. 16.III.12

Bottle. Black with a beige foam. Aromas are earthy roast malts with dark chocolate with cream. Light blackberry with yeast and soft spiced oranges. Flavours are sweet chocolate and caramel with creamy fudge. Coffee and dark chocolate bitterness. Fruity with spices. Dry and sweet on the finish with some peppery yeast. Decent.

500ml bottle carried back home from the Cave in Glasgow and shared with Finn. Fawn-coloured head to a rosewood coloured body – very nice, indeed. Spotty lacing to the glassware. Grainy chocolate malts to the nose. Flavoured with semi-sweet chocolate malts, alongside notes liquorice and lactose. Rounded and dry ending with distant roastiness Pleasing (Tromsø, 20.09.2012).

On cask at the Euston Tap on 14 April 2011. Dark brown colour. Thin white head. Quite dry and roasty. Some caramel on the nose. Slight tarry, medicinal tinge too. A little coffee in the flavour. Dry mouthfeel with a bitter tang. Decent stuff.

50cl bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized light brown head that leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma of malts, chocolate, lightly hops, lightly a citrus touch and some roastyness. Taste malts, barley, roastyness, slightly liquorice, light to moderately orange peel. Medium body, low to medium carbonation.
