Midnight Sun is a black porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt, balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger. We really like it and hope you do too!

Pours a dark black into snifter. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is gentle with some roasted notes and a spiciness from the hops. A bit of smoke and licorice. The ginger is noticable in the finish which gives this a soft sour note. Really liking this one.

Dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted barley malt, milk and chocolate. Taste light sweetness and trace of sourness. Body fairly thin.

I really liked this It’s a beautiful drink - very dark with a fine off-white head Not great retention or lacing, and the aroma is a little muted, but for me this is a clever drink A rich chocolate porter, yet it’s surprisingly easy drinking Some porters one is enough, but I could drink this all day I didn’t taste the ginger, but there is a warmth there Mouthfeel is light too

The color is a clear very dark brown with a reddish tint and with a medium off-white head that fades quickly, and the aroma has roasted, caramel, and chocolate malts. The taste is a very nice blend of mild umami, touch bitter, and slightly sour, which is complemented by the palate due to the slick texture, medium body, soft carbonation, and roasty and malty finish.

Sehr dunkelbrauens Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, schokoladig. Geschmack röstmalzig, Kaffee, dunkle reife Früchte, trocken.

From the 500 ml. bottle stamped L0808-1011. It pours deep dark brown under a modest off-white head that fades. The aroma is pretty straight forward with nothing unique about it. A little barley malt, a little sweetness, a little chocolate, and a little light hops. The body is thin to medium but smooth. The taste is not too presumptuous with its mellower barley malt and sweet character followed by a mildly dry finish. I would drink it again.

Loved this little gem. Set aside the low head retention and your in for a treat. Striking aromas of chocolate and citrus. The fullness of the flavours are of sweet chocolate, treacle and molasses. It’s not typically heavy for the style which is not a downside. Sweet hops to finish. A well structured and flavour balanced novelty. Love the cool label too.

Butelka. Aromat czekoladowy, kawowy, karmelowy, palony. W smaku jest gorzka czekolada, kawa, delikatny mleczny posmak. Piwo jest aksamitne.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2014 Really really dark black with a small traditional bottled porter tan head. Nice aroma. Lovely taste of porter but less coffee and more dark chocolate, with a hint of mild ginger finish but not noticeably spicy as label might suggest.

Bottle 500 ml at home, poured into a snifter, ABV 5.6% Pours totally black, with one finger of thick tan head sitting on top, good retention and medium lacing left around the glass. Very nice aroma witth oats, light chocolate, the ginger notable giving an extra refreshing touch, some hoppy notes as well. Taste follows the aroma, there are some light chocolate notes that quickly get replaced by roasted malts, the ginger is there but not spicy at all so that’s an extra, it still gives that clean, refreshing touch though. Mildly bitter aftertaste. Medium thin body but taking the alcohol level into account is more than okay, carbonation is low, quite dry on the palate. Overall a very good porter, the ginger definitely gives a little something in there, all in all very drinkable.
