Midnight Sun is a black porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt, balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger. We really like it and hope you do too!

A good porter, not a special taste but easy to drink... A good start but not very long....

Standard dark aroma with a little fruitiness. Taste is reasonable but playing it a bit safe I’d say, can’t really get the ginger, good mouthfeel but the flavour leaves some to be desired, a bit commercial tasting, I think they would benefit from bottle conditioning.

Bottle 500 ml from Hyperboissons - Doubs (F). Porter more roasted and coffee than chocolate, smoked note. It’s soft and sweetened without excess, with acidity and fruity but a little rough. Roasted malt, toffy-licorice, coffee, bitter chocolate, spices, bitterness and pungent note. A good beer but lacks a little depth and length, probably because of the low alcohol.

Bottle @ Setka Pub, Poznań. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt & caramel. Bitter, roasty flavour, with notes of coffee beans and malt, touches of ginger, and hints of hops. Medium carbonation. Nice.

Deep dark red/brown - essentially black with a thin beige head. Aroma is nutty, coffee, roast malt, chocolate, wood, ginger. Taste is light sweet, with a light-medium bitter finish, really well balanced. Thin oily texture, low carbonation, could be thicker. Overall a pretty good beer.

Bottle from the Hog’s Back brewery shop. Pours very deep brown colour with a small tan head. Nice smooth tasting porter with a slightly sweet fruity start with a hint of ginger before chocolate and a touch of coffee comes through on the dry bitter finish. Tasty stuff.

Nice dark rich color, very little head. Great chocolate, coffee taste. Really enjoyed this beer!

Bottle. Elegant aroma of coffee, chocolate and a lively touch of ginger. The flavour is coffee and roast upfront, mineral earthy in the finish, short bitterness and an aftertaste of ginger and ash. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel (oats be thanked). Not really full bodied but thanks to its smoothness it doesn’t come across as dry. Excellent!

Not generally a porter fan but with Williams being my favourite brewery I had to give this a go when I saw it for sale in St Petersburg. Rich and flavoursome, though I didn’t detect much ginger! Very hoppy for a porter, which I loved. Quite a thin mouth feel, which I also liked but may be too watery for afficionados of darker beers. Personally I loved it, and found it very refreshing. Could possibility drink quite a lot of this if I had the chance! My first dark Williams beer, a hit.
