Midnight Sun is a black porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt, balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger. We really like it and hope you do too!

Dark, yes. Spicy, yes. Rich, not really. Has some nice coffe flavor and a little chocolate, but misses richness to make it whole.

Dark brown colour. Cacao, tobacco leaves with a touch of smoke. A touch of ginger, smoke, tobacco, sweet malty mouth. A bit too sweet for my taste, but OK depth. Lingering peaty finish. Not bad.

Thin head. Dark brown. Thin aroma, hint of sour. Light roast malt flavour. A bit of a different finish which must be the ginger. Nice.

500ml bottle from Beer Hawk - Probably my favourite William Bros beer so far (still got a few more to finish before I make my mind up). A pitch black body with a good-sized tan head that creates a good lacing. The aromas are quite pronounced and of milk chocolate and coffee along with a decent roasted malt tone. The flavours are of dark chocolate, once again accompanied by coffee and warming ginger. A lasting bitter, coffee and liquorice flavour in the finish, that further subdues to form a roasted malt final aftertaste. Pretty bloody good.

nice beer, beautiful dark colour. the initial taste is good and full, but the aftertaste feels a bit watered down and gives an anti-climax.

Fairly light aroma, but looks and flows incredibly well balanced on first glance. Tastes smooth and creamy, with a medium bitterness and sweetness. Holds its chocolatey flavour just long enough to leave you wanting more. A really lovely balanced porter, perfect with pudding. Not sure about the ’spicy’ claim on the bottle, but it could easily become a high calibre staple porter.

Bottle 0.5. Porter - comprising a mixture of malted barley, oats and burnt chocolate malt, hops and lots of ginger. Porter does not look like Russian (Baltic, Athanasius) - it is dry, no sweet aftertaste, aroma of coffee and hops. Foam - a thick, resistant, chocolate.

500ml bottle, pours black with a small tan head, chocolate and roast malt aroma, hints of plum with a bit of spice, finish is balanced and moderate bitter, carbonation average, nothing too complex, but certainly not disappointed. Very good porter.

500ml bottle at home. Pours near black, 1cm off-white head that lasts pretty well. Coffee, chocolate and metallic aromas, subtle ginger if you search for it. A herbal note coming out as it slips down. Taste has a roasted bitterness and chocolate-to-toffee sweetness. Liquorice coming through on the aftertaste. Medium body, little thin, average carbonation. Decent bitter finish. Nice.
