Midnight Sun is a black porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt, balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger. We really like it and hope you do too!

Bottle from Tesco. It pours opaque black with a medium tan head and moderate carbonation. The nose is chocolate, toffee, ginger, coffee and salt. The taste is raisin, charcoal, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, liquorice, smoke, ginger, wood, cherry and a little salt, with a dry, roasty finish. The balance is spot on, making this a very drinkable porter. Good job.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium, creamy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is light roast malt, chocolate, dark fruity esters and earthy notes. Flavor is malt dominant, chocolate, faint hops and bitterness, light esters and a sweet finish. Light body and warmth, medium carbonation.

Pours deep black with slight red edges. A fine, frothy rim of beige cream on top. Aroma is slightly smoked, lots of liqourice and anise. Fine mouthfeel, lightly creamy. Flavour has a powerful dose of liqourice, ginger and a weak note of plums. Okay, but a bit sharp.

pitch dark smooth light brown head. roasted grains dominate the aroma, also faint licorice. flavor is rosated grains, licorice, nuts. ends nicely nutty bitter and lots of roasted grains. ending also have fain roasted licorice. For a 5.5% beer, this one is insanely flavorfull.

500 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear but extremely dark brown color. Opaque in the glass. Large brown head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma of dry roasty notes, tobacco, hops and just a hint of sweet caramel in the finish. The taste is roasted malts, smoke, tobacco, faint leafy hops and a bitter of leather. Very dry and roasty throughout. Medium bodied. Decent.

500ml bottle from a local Tesco store in Edinburgh. Jet black body to a light brownish head, slowly diminishing. Roasted, mid-sweet, dark malts to the nose. Flavoured with roasted malts, ginger and liquorice offset by pine-like hops. Dry, bittersweet end. Well balanced. Good (hotel room, 30.11.2010).
