Cask; Regular.
Midnight Sun is a black Porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roast barley and chocolate malt,balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger.

Cask (handpump) @ Bow Bar, 80 West Bow, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 2HH.

Clear dark black - red brown colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, smoked - burnt malt. Body is medium, texture is oily and smooth, carbonation is flat. [20101031]

From cask at the 78. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted, mild spiced. Caramelish to dark toffee flavoured. Mild bitterness coming through. Dark malty, acidic and roasted into a lingering dark finish.

Cask, 5.6% at Berliner Bierfestival. Roasted aroma, sweet liquorice. Black colour, seems a little cloudy. Very small head. The flavour is sweet and has some liquorice. Good flowery aroma hop in the finish.

Cask gravity at 1st K&ES Railway BF 2009. Black, opaque. Very thin biege head. Smells of choc ginger nut biscuits. Fullish mouth. Yes definitely choc covered ginger biscuits, but not bad.

Chelmsford Winter Fest. Opaque black beer. Tangy dark malt nose. Light semi dry palate. Nice full on porter. A little toasty malt but smooth and creamy as well. Zero bitterness. Good fruit in there as well. Nice Porter!

Appearance was one shade shy of midnight black, giant bubbles that settle quickly. Smell had caramel and milk chocolate. Taste was smooth cocoa but sort of unbalanced; slight smoke finish. Interesting; memorable; unique.
