2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, - SEP 25, 2012Gravicask (PBBF2012, Thurs)
Blackberry sharp aroma. Sour. Black, tiny head. Sharp, itter, and sour in teh taste. Crisp palate, because it’s sour. No. Not good. Does show off signs of being a good beer, but the bottle did that eaerlier already. Shame. Should rerate a fresh sample.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - FEB 7, 2013
Cask by handpump, shared with Finn at The National Winter Ales Festival. Bubbly ring to the edge of the glass. Almost jet black in body appearance. Earthy malts and grain to the nose, semi-sweet. Roasted malty taste joined by hints of chocolate and ginger. Bittersweet finish, half-dry. A well balanced and likeable brew (Manchester, 23.01.2013).

Dry stout (why is this called a porter on Ratebeer?) has some good chocolate and the like but is less fruity to me than their March of the Penguins, and I preferred that one just a big more. (cask at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, Edinburgh, June 2012)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 madmitch76 (9867) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2012
4th February 2010 Chelmsford Winter Fest. Opaque black beer. Tangy dark malt nose. Light semi dry palate. Nice full on porter. A little toasty malt but smooth and creamy as well. Zero bitterness. Good fruit in there as well. Nice Porter!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sonnycheeba (1904) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Cask. Pours deep, dark brown with average, creamy beige head; decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is wet paper, caramel malt, dark fruit, and no noticeable hops. Flavor is malt forward with nothing much there to support; oily finish. Medium body and warmth with low carbonation.
4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mcdoug (31) - Middle River, Maryland, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Kind of weak aroma, but beautiful dark porter color. Mild but very pleasing taste... sort of sweet and almost soapy at first, but very nice mildly toasty long term. Really enjoyed it!
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1204) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAR 12, 2012
Sampled this interesting porter at the Paisley Beer Festival in May 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a loose open bubbled head which rapidly disappeared. Interesting and strange aroma which brought back flash memories of garrigue scrub from the Med - is lavender oil used in this beer? Unusual oily, almost burnt wood in the mouthfeel and no lacing at all. Complex dark malts give an interesting medlay of flavours. Black malt in the initial taste, giving distinctive burnt toast and roasted grain flavours. This gives way to sweet black treacle notes combined with aromatic parma violet sweets of all things. Dry spicy hop resins compliment the complex malts to give a rich panoply of flavours in the intense aftertaste. Dry leathery finish but laced with sweetness at the end. An interesting porter and one to slowly savour. Worth seeking out on cask.
