COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Profanity Stout is the first in the Williams Bros ’chapeau’ series, in which we celebrate the skills of amateur brewers whose beers we think are exceptoinal and should be made available to a wider audience. With Profanity Stout we doff our caps to Peter and Craig, the ’Balls to the Wall’ brewing duo, who developed this recipe as students on the brewing course at Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University. The beer is a blend of rich coffee and intensely fruity hop aromas on a base of full velvety malty mouthfeel.

Bottle, 7%. The aroma is refreshingly hoppy, has ashy notes as well as piney hop notes. Black colour, seems clear with a red shine. Big stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is roasted with a hint of smoke. Quite roasted, has some barley bitterness. The bitterness is a little rough, but the piney hops seem to balance it off a bit.

Bottle @ The Unholy Trinity Meets Again, Sønderborg. Pours hazy very dark brown with small light tan head. Clear aroma of roast and caramel malt, with notes of coffee and liquorice. Bitter, hoppy and roasty flavour with sweetish notes of caramel malt and hints of liquorice. Touches of coffee beans. Roasty and bitter aftertaste. Rather non-aggresisve for the style but decent.

Nose is roasty, Aroma is toast, dark chocolate, coffee, light smoke, Taste is heavy roasty bitter, Finish is medium to long lasting roasty and slightliy hoppy bitter, light alcohol warmth. Full body, slightly sticky texture, soft carbonation. Simple, not too heavy, good one.

Bottle from Cellarbrations Sandy Bay February 2014. There is nothing about the beer that would make you utter profanities. Rich dense black colour with chocolate aromas and thick in the mouth.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roast, dark malts, coffee, chocolate and some fruit. The taste was of malts, roast, coffee, chocolate, fruit and some bitterness. Nice.

shared with bartlebier, Bierle and Oldmanriver. Unexpected, almost confusing passion-fruit-yoghurt-nose. Even more so the taste, which is passion-fruit-yoghurt eaten together with an espresso, quite a lovelessly combined dessert option imho. Fitting finish, with a lingering roast bitterness and a light sourness (yoghurt and espresso). A stout brewed/dryhopped with citra?

330ml bottle from Favourite Beers, Cheltenham. Dark rich black colour with thick creMy tan head. The aroma has all you’d expect tasted malt, coffee, chocolate. They are in the taste too, but just a touch light and watery.

Bottle. Dark Brown, clear color, small head in my case. Aroma is full of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and sweet milk chocolate, great. Dry taste, with a nearly harsh bitter finish. Medium body, more flat carbonation. Aftertaste is first Form floral to resin, then roasty and somewhat ash and bitter in the end.
