Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jun 12, 2007 Bottle, Odd Bins, Summertown. Slighty rosy copper. Not "pink" as the label suggests. Lots of white head that settles into a small but persistant skim. Dusky bread aroma, a bit of berry, but man it is faint. A fruity yeast strain would give more than the stingy whiff here. Grassy flavor, very light berry sweetness, a bit of lingering pithy hops. I can see how this could be something nice from the cask, still full of bright yeast character. As is, palatable, but not particularly noteworthy. JorisPPattyn (5136), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 4, 2007 Off-white, quite stable medium head, looking solid. Well-carbonated, light amber clear beer with a reddish(?) shine. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with aroma’s of dusty, slightly sulphury & cheesy hops. The fruit aroma reminds me of gooseberry at best, but the hops are distinctive. I do know Tayberries quite well, but this doesn’t ring a bell. Ever so slightly sourish, faint fruity flavour, and a brief, but unmistakable surge of hops. Palate is more MF than taste: vaguely fruity and well-carbonated. Light body, and drops a bit dead despite all the CO². First of the Williams Bros.’ beer that disappoints me rather. 2 serious hints for Messr. Williams: use whole fruit next time - and a LOT of it (brambles don’t work very well in lambic neither), and 2), bottle-condition! TheGrandMaster (1844), Auckland, New Zealand May 19, 2007 Bottle, pours an apricot pink with a pink fluffy head. A light but warming malt aroma - don’t pick much berry in there. Berries and hops fill the mouth first, but then a sour and sharp palate takes over. Works quite well. hepburn82 (141), Scotland May 12, 2007 Bottle. Hazy reddy gold colour. Aroma of raspberries and malt. Maybe a little toffee aswell. Malty, fruity flavour with a touch of bitterness/acidity. Quite nice. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland May 2, 2007 Glowing red colour, with a sweet cremola foam fizzing nose, little berry sour and sharpness, with a fruitness and touch of hop. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Apr 26, 2007 500ml bottle from Booths. So blackberry and raspberry? Burnt orange colour. Lasting thick white head. Fruity soapy aroma, soft in mouth. More berry, pippy fruit on end, but it is soapy without doubt. It’s not exactly subtle. Lots of fruit over an undistinguished beer. TC2642 (265), Worcester, Worcestershire, England Apr 13, 2007 Bottle, deep garnet colour, very acidic, sharp aroma, quite a tart taste but rather subdued, could be better Maria (6057), Thisted, Denmark Apr 1, 2007 Thank you Jan (Drillings in Nibe) for this nice present! Dark, copper-red color and a slightly pink head. Both the aroma and the flavour has notes of raspberry and blackberry, and it has a nice acidity from the berries and a light sweetness. 1931
