tombyars (1389) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 9, 2014
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) on the 6th February 2014. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Floral hops and sweet barley sugar sticks in the pleasant aroma. Thin and resiny mouthfeel with good lacing throughout. Mixed malts gives a complex range of flavours with shortbread base mixed with sweet golden syrup and tart gooseberry fruit in the mouth. Floral hop resins add a delicate aromatic resiny aftertaste which compliments the malt well. Finish is malty with sweet tangerine notes present in the palate. This is a cracking and quirky ESB, well recommended.

Cask, 5,1% at BBF13. Good flowery hop aroma, quite powerful. Hazy golden colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is like the aroma, fruity and flowery, grassy, piney, and a little sweet. Good.

Some nice fruity aftertastes but not a very impressive beer. Quite thin on taste and not much going on.

stravale (2123) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - MAR 4, 2013
Cask @ Standing Order, Edinburgh [210213]
Golden, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma of soft zesty hops, some lemon, light pale malts
Taste of soft zesty hops, lemon, some soft grassy hop, sweet pale malts which cramp the hop flavour somewhat and a touch of sweet caramel in the background
Palate - medium body, oily texture, mainly sweet palate, zesty hop bitterness somewhat masked by the sweet pale malts. Finish as main flavour, soft bitter hops, bit more grassy and sweet pale malt linger.
Overall - It’s fine but I’d prefer a bit less sweetness in the pale malt background
