3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2012Fresh bomber. The pour yields a mostly clear, dark orange-amber body with a small but dense cap of dusky beige froth. Quickly collapsing to a bubbly outer edge with a thin center patch, the head yields sticky, tattered bands of lacing. Immediately, the nose reveals what seems to be my newfound arch nemesis, Simcoe hops. Their signature savory, meaty, catty aromas are off-putting. Secondary notes of grapefruit are buried too far beneath to make a positive impact. Hefty malts are driven by buttery toffee mostly. While the flavor of Simcoe never seems to match the intensity of the generally unpleasant aroma, I do still get some meaty characteristics that I don’t think should be present in a beer. Grapefruit pushes forward a bit, bringing along its bitter pith and fruity rind, but again, it falls short. Toffee again comprises the malt base, albeit fairly well attenuated and not overly sweet. The palate is robust, yet relatively dry, with average carbonation and a warm, alcoholic, somewhat papery finish. Overall, I’d call this a cleaner, better-attenuated version of GUBNA, a beer I detest. Not much of anything for me to come back for on this one.

22oz courtesy of ygbtsm94. Thanks!
A: Semi-opaque dark-orange body with a resting white foam on top. Some decent legs. Get some good head retention on this.
N: Tons of mandarin oranges, clementines, grapefruit, and mango. A little bit of peach. Some pine and there’s plenty of that sweet crystalized sugar. Very well dry hopped - very impressed.
T: Very well balanced. Plenty of bitterness mixed up with a sweet undertone. The citrus flavors shine through quite well. Perhaps not as strong or as bitter as some of the others in the style, but this fits my palate very well.
M: Very dry, resinous, and medium bodied.
O: Definitely up there with the best DIPAs for me. I’ll definitely finish this entire bottle and enjoy every sip. Every sip reveals a changing dimension.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2013
Bottle shared on the RBWG 2013 bus. Pours clear gold with a light, white froth head. This is a hop and booze bomb with tons of sweetness, lots of rich pine, earth. Big bitterness that really stays with you. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lingering resinous piney hop finish, sticky sweet sugars. I’d like to try this one again at some point because it seemed pretty average to me.

This is one hell of an IPA!!! Killer nose with plenty of pine and resin. Flavor follows with tons of pine and resin. Loads of hops and plenty of citrus with grapefruit. Great lighter medium body. Well done and worth the hype!

Awesome brew. Aroma is big hops: citrus, some tropical fruits, pine. Pour is clear amber colored with a white head. Flavor is big hops, some honey, but not sweet. This is dangerously drinkable. Awesome stuff.

I guess I am the 100th rating to send this one over the top. This brew was fantastic - such separation of bitter and sweet. Lots of honey malts and bitter hops here, just very well hidden among the soft hops. I’m not sure what I just typed but I know that this beer is just fucking fantastic. Thanks Jordan!!!!!!!
