COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited to 2009 bottles. A porter, to which rapadou (Carribean unrefined cane sugar from Haiti) was added (but not caramelized rapadou as in the Rapadou Porter) and aged for two months in Virginia Gentleman bourbon barrels. It is a complex porter, to which the flavors of vanilla and a little bourbon have been added as a result of the aging process.

Bottle@Home. Says 2010-1977. Loads of chocolate in the aroma. Opaque, light brown head, tiny, fair lace. Very sweet, chocolate, some coffee/mocha, bourbon, light woody, bitterness still there.

Bottle thanks to ksurkin: Poured a thick murky dark brown to black with a thin tan light brown head. Aroma is thick vanilla with some booziness. Taste is strong bourbon and vanilla with loads of chocolaty malts.

Bottle thanks to ksurkin. Thanks man! Deep dark viscous pour with a thin khaki head that doesn’t hold. Nose is mild bourbon with good roasted malt and dark coffee. Flavor has a nicer amount of bourbon, which is smooth. Dark chocolate and coffee noticeable. Very nice and enjoyable.

From a 22 oz bottle shared with friends. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma dominated by bourbon. Notes of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Boozy finish.

From an old note (most likely shared by the fine folks up at Proof): roasty, cocoa, bourbon, dark chocolate, toast - medium body - bitter earthy fin - 7.4

Had it at a tap takeover. Simply the best beer I ever had. Liquid candy is how I would describe it. Perfection. I love goose island’s bourbon county but Alewerk’s is one notch ahead.

Bottle. Hazy brown color, small tan head. Aroma of boozy vanilla. Taste is boozy chocolate.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 bottle. Pitch black pour with small head. Nose of roasted malts, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste is medium on roast and medium on bourbon. I typically do not enjoy this style but this is an exception. Just the right amount of burn. A tad on the thin side however.

22 ounce bottle, poured a brown almost black color, aromas of vanilla, wood, chocolate, bourbon, and light coconut. Flavors are light bourbony fudge with some vanilla thrown in. Boozy was not overshadowing any flavor, a nice mix of flavors, a solid ba porter.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with very thin tan head that quickly recedes and spotted lacing. Nose is vanilla, bourbon, oak, milk chocolate. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, heavy cream, with a roasted malt finish that is bitter. This bottle was cellared for a little less than a year, the bourbon has faded a bit since my last taste and time has treated it well. The bourbon was a little too present, if that is possible, when it was younger.
