4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 tcane7 (819) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 14, 2012Bottle. Pours a deep brown with very thin tan head that quickly recedes and spotted lacing. Nose is vanilla, bourbon, oak, milk chocolate. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, heavy cream, with a roasted malt finish that is bitter. This bottle was cellared for a little less than a year, the bourbon has faded a bit since my last taste and time has treated it well. The bourbon was a little too present, if that is possible, when it was younger.

650ml bottle from 2012. Near black with ruby poking through. Light brown head that quickly recedes to a thin ring. Great bourbon presence in the aroma. Chocolate, fruit and coffee hiding underneath it. Coming to this from several bourbon barrel stouts I think I prefer the lack of roast on show here. Bourbon and chocolate come to the fore with barrel integrated well. Very balanced and drinkable. Slight hint of burn occasionally as it finishes. Impressive overall and I’m glad I got the chance to try this.

Tap. Pours opaque black with a tiny tan head that dissipates with some lacing. Aroma is bourbon, dark roasted malts, coffee. Flavor is the same with a strong bourbon presence, some woody astringence, and medium sweetness. Medium body, light warming finish. Smooth and very nice.

Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, coffee, and caramel. Black with minimal, tan head. Dry, hot, and a little smoky. Full bodied with low carbonation, and finishes with strong, whiskey flavors lingering.

22oz bomber via trrade. Poured a decent looking medium density pitch black with an average sized foamy darker beige head. Aroma is very nice, notes of bourbon and vanilla dominate along with sweet dark chocolate, pudding, burnt toast and dark fruits. Syrupy full body with average carbonation and a lingering aftertaste that builds nicely along with a touch of heat. Flavor is very good but not as great as the aroma. Notes of sweet chocolate, pudding, vanilla extract, bourbon, barrel, molasses. This is a great beer.

Boozy, mediocre bourbon; not enough body or roasty malts. A bit sweet in the middle. Overall: meh.

Dark as night with a tan head. smells of oak, bourbon and malt. very palatable. tastes as it smells. bourbon taste definitely comes through but not outrageously slow.
3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bricks (457) - Delaware, USA - JAN 30, 2013
2009 - lifeless jet black with some tan head and a bit of fizzy carbonation. Very complex aroma for a porter.. a bit harsh but smells of bourbon, alcohol, licorice, coffee. Fairly abrasive taste, strong notes of coffee, bourbon, vanilla and alcohol. Alcohol is quite present, even after the aging. Mouthfeel is weird, thin, yet creamy and harsh at the same time. Interesting beer.

Pours black with little head. Aroma is bourbon and chocolate. Taste adds a smoked malt note. Chocolate still very prominent. Nice smooth palate.

22 oz bottle from drake, ksurkin. Pours a clear dark brown color with reddish highlights and a medium sized khaki head. The aroma had dark chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, bourbon with barrel notes with mild dark fruitiness. The flavor has roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, bourbon, wood, char with light coconut notes..Just the slightest hint of booze. Solid BA Porter.
