COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Celebrating the Grand Illumination of Williamsburg each year, our Barleywine style ale is a massive 11% offering that takes us over 5 hours to boil. The long boil time creates a bold caramel tone and is balanced with our signature Amarillo/Cascade hops blend. Limited edition of 2007 bottles.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, hops, and some oxidation. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, over ripe fruits, and old hops. The alcohol leaves a burn on the palate.

651mL 2009 ed courtesy of MrLo. The pour is a crystal clear amber with a healthy, erupting, yellow, thick head. Nice retention and full 360 sheety lace. Nose is heavy maple, toffee, caramel, no "orange mint" or oxidation. Gains lime, "fatty meat" taste is soft, mild salt and pimento, heavy wood tannins, lots of bitterness piling on. Spice, dry wood, dried orange, maple. Soft, dryer mouthfeel. Pretty neutral with a nice sweet and bitter balance. gains loads of bitter chocolate, cocoa powder. Soft alcohol notes. Really soft and on style barleywine. No nonsense.

2010 bottle...Pours an opaque amber with a thin tan head. Aroma has some vanilla notes and candied fruits...nice light hoppiness. Flavor has sweet maltiness and candied fruits followed by crisp hops...suprised at the hoppiness...I like it. Mouthfeel is medium/heavy and creamy with a dry finish that warms with candied fruits and nice bitterness.

Brown with ruby highlights. Creamy, tight-bubbled, off-white head. Little bit of lacing as it slowly dies down. Aroma of malts and cereals. Some muted hops and vanilla. Tastes of malt, tea, hops, vanilla, caramel. Awesome tasting. A little bitter in the back. Thin, yet still malty. Nice beverage.

2010 bottle. Deep and hazy reddish copper in color with a tannish head. Strong and full, the flavor of malt and yeast is taken over by deep fruit such as raisin, fig, then a bit of spice (clove, ginger). Very powerful and heavy. A nice barley wine.

2007 Vintage Bottle 1895 of 2007 The beer appears hazy and reddish brown hued, with a half inch of tan head. The aroma consists of caramels, malt, molasses and alcohol. The flavor is nice, with a prominent showing of caramel candies, though not too sweet. The feel is medium bodied, with the alcohol presence having been tamed by the aging process. A smooth and mellow ride at 11% abv, this brew ages well. I would buy / drink it again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-12-2011

Bottle #390 or 2007. At first, the pour looks brunette and brown, but as it settles it moves to black with the slight but solid head demonstrating real staying power. The aroma is rich with beet sugar and a hint at the powerful kick. Rich, thick and viscuous to be sure, this is predominately sweet and over-the-top malty, with a tip of raisins and sweet fruits. (#3320, 2/11/2008)
