Commercial Description:
An Imperial Porter brewed with a Haitian sugar called Rapadou. Rapadou is a traditionally processed cane sugar that lends a great toffee caramel flavor to our 9% ABV Porter. Watch for this one aged in oak barrels in the future. Limited edition of 2007 bottles.

22oz bottle sent to me in trade. 100/2007. Rich chocolate looking pour with minimal head. The aroma is rich with coffee, toffee, and roasted grains. The aroma is in no way misleading about the flavor. Roasted grains, coffee grounds, a touch of cola and chocolate. Very rich. Full bodied with a slick mouth feel. Did I mention that I thought this was a “rich” brew. I’m not sure I got that across;-)

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, courtesy of Harry. Bottle 0530 of 2007. Alcohol, burnt sugar, cola aroma. Black dark tanned head. Interesting taste - strong porter,, strong alcohol, ,weird sweetness/tang. Too strong but still very flavourful. An interesting take on the style.

Bottle coutesy of nimbleprop. Pours a light browns with a frothy brown head. Aroma is lightly sweet with coffee, roast, molasses and just a hint of smoke. Flavor is roast, smoke, caramel, molasses and light chocolate. Medium body, very creamy texture. Medium semi dry finish.

Thanks to MuenchenerKindl for this great extra. Bottle 462 poured into my Maudite glass produced a big tan head that trailed of to a thick lace. This ale had one of the darkest body’s I have seen in a while. I guess its time to get used to them for the fall Big chocolate and roasted malts notes as well as almost a brown sugar smell must be the Rapadou. The flavors of roasted malts dark chocolate and smoke hit me first then a little sweetness sneaks in as well. Very thick mouth feel creamy in some ways not much carbonation. Flavors get much better as it warms I am enjoying this bomber quite nicely. I will have no problem finishing this one off but not a session brew by any means. Thanks again Tom. Edit I think the age of the bottle must be taming the alcohol because it is not noticeable at all till it hits you

Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Bottle 0530 of 2007. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee on ice, chocolate, brown sugar and molasses. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee & dark chocolate, molasses, green hops and an interesting burnt element to it. Thick syrupy body. A very enjoyable beer.
