Springhouse is an aged Belgium Saison (Farmhouse Ale). 8% ABV, it pours gold-amber, is well carbonated but has a small to non existent head, and has a sweet fruity aroma with apples, green grapes and apricots the dominant taste. This is an interesting ale that deserves your attention.

Super solid Saison from Alewerks. Aroma is lemon, clove, banana and bready. Very zesty aroma. Smells delicious. Taste is actually pretty juicy. Lots of lemon and breadiness. Itís spicy, zesty and dry. Overall, itís a super drinkable, delicious saison. Alewerks makes awesome beers and this is another one in the line of them. Itís really simple and I think thatís what makes it even better. Cheers!

Draft at the source. As springtime saison(confirmed as same). Yeast, spice, herbal, Belgian aromas. Flavors are light, yeast, spice and fruit toned.

Poured into a pint glass. Bottle. 3.25 A: Moderately hazed yellow brown color. Three fingers of foamy white head. Retention is about average, but leaves no lacing. 4.0 S: Dry with a huge herbal component. Chamomile, hay, dirty earthiness. Not much fruit, but hints of lemongrass. Very nice nose here. 3.75 T: Pleasantly sweet, which is a bit surprising given the nose. Hay, lemongrass, earth. Thereís a touch of cracker component to the malts as well. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Just a touch of creaminess. 3.75 D: Very nice beer. Super drinkable and balanced. ★ 604 characters DavoleBomb, Nov 30, 2014

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange with apricot colored edges and a frothy, two finger white head that very slowly settles into a lasting cap/ring. Very good retention for the style with large chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Floral, perfume like aroma with zesty spice, bready yeast, bubblegum and sweet citrus fruit. Not much of a farmhouse/saison yeast character with only subtle musty funk. Smells more like an American wheat beer. Slightly mineraly with some pepper and clove followed by the wheat, yeast and orange peel. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a zesty spice presence up front that lingers over subtle funk, bread, bubblegum and citrus zest into a slightly dry finish. Again, the saison/farmhouse character is faint with only subtle grassy, musty funk. Feels more like a wheat beer with peppery clove and coriander followed by a strong bready yeast character and prominent bubblegum flavor. Some lemon pith/citrus sweetness towards the finish but thatís pretty tame as well. Not all that interesting or flavorful but at least itís easy to drink. Not a very good interpretation of the style in my opinion.

Bottle... Pours clear and amber with orange highlights and a small, fizzy, white head thatís gone in a flash. The aroma features herbs and spicy phenols. Full-bodied with busy carbonation. The flavor is all about spicy phenols and fruity esters flanked by too much hop bitterness. Why donít we just take this farmhouse yeast strain that everyone (except FantŰme) seems to be using for their saisons and alter the grain bills so they are heavier on wheat and lighter on barley and whala Ė a bunch of Belgian and French farmhouse hefeweizens! Meh.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, light sweet tarts, apple, and faint yeast. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a two finger white head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a thick ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light-moderate citrus and light yeast. The finish has light-moderate orange peel, apple, faint sweet tarts, and spice/pepper. Itís light-medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation.

Bottle: Clear amber body, really nice clarity with a soapy, fuzzy off-white layer of foam on top with a nice collar along the glass. Aroma is estery with some Belgian yeast notes, faint white wine, tart green apple, & just a light touch of cotton funk. Taste is a bit spicier with some clove, phenols, estery spice, & a moderate medicinal tone. Slight grassiness. Touch of gummy yeast, toasted bread, & a bit of farmhouse in the finish. Small touch of white grape. Semi-wet finish.

Bought at a beer store on a trip up through Virginia. Completely opaque, a bit sour, a bit chalky. Doesn't really inspire me to go back to Virginia. A million small bubbles. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
