COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A great malt body with 30 pounds of Amarillo and Cascade hops added over a 5 hour period results in an assertive but balanced reminiscent of an American Barleywine Ale. Designed to be cellared. Limited to 2007 bottles.

nimbleprop (4200) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 30, 2007
Bottle #1806. Poured a nealy opaque copper red with a frothy slightly tan head. Aroma smells a bit like candy, sugary with hints of dark fruit like plums. Flavor is strongly malty, very similar to the malt of a barley wine with touches of caramel and citrus like lemons and grapefuit. Not overly citrus or bitter from the hops though. Finish is all barley wine though, heat and alcohol that coats and warms the throat. This beer was sweet and drinkable despite what I can only assume is a high ABV. Glad I snagged 2 of these, wonder how it will age over a year or two.

Bottle sampled. Pours brown with a red hue and a small dense lasting tan head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, hops, and citrus. The flavor is caramel, fruit, citrus, chocolate, and bitter.

hopscotch (8552) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 13, 2007
Bottle… RBSG 07… Mostly clear, dark crimson ale with a mid-sized, frothy, tan head. Vinous aroma with waves of caramel, dark chocolate and dark cherries. Malty, tangy, lightly bitter flavor leans a good bit on the sweet side of balance. Medium-bodied and very astringent with soft carbonation. Earthy, lightly bitter finish. Kudos to Immy for supplying the bottle!

muzzlehatch (4424) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUL 11, 2007
Sample from 22 ounce bottle, RBSG Minneapolis Grand Tasting, June 23 2007. Dark, mostly clear brown/burnt-blood-red, bit of head lasting....grapy, burnt, strong resinous hops are pungent but not really pleasant, sort of "unclean" to my nose though I doubt it really was infected....harsh, overly burnt/roasty on the tongue, a bit of dark chocolate, hops wreak havoc here rather than give pleasure....very dry and somewhat mineralic finish....didn’t work for me. Regardless, thanks Immy for bringing it.

Skyview (5109) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 11, 2007
Sampled at RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting room. Thanks to Immy and maniac for sharing. From 22-oz bottle pours a clear dark reddish brown brew with a thick tan head that dissolves quickly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, fruity cherries, and some hint of chocolate. Taste is lightly carbonated, medium bodied with flavors of citrus zest, chocolate and some brown sugar. Finish is slightly sweet with a cherry-like aftertaste.

JK (4293) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - JUL 6, 2007
Abundant hops in the aroma. A red beer. Flavor lacks the hops of the flavor, and is based on malt. Very drinkable, and almost a session beer, but I suspect it is too strong for that.
