COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A great malt body with 30 pounds of Amarillo and Cascade hops added over a 5 hour period results in an assertive but balanced reminiscent of an American Barleywine Ale. Designed to be cellared. Limited to 2007 bottles.

Deep brown with some ruby highlights, perfect creamy compact head faded slowly. Aroma of thick caramel, molasses, and baked grapefruit, very inviting. Lusch caramel flavors with a big balancing bitterness, plenty of grapefruit hops here. This was in fact very good, sort of straddling the fine line between American Strongs and the big hoppy American style barley wines. I’m becoming impressed with what Williamsburg is turning out.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 Thanks Immy: Bottle 1151: Pours a heavily chill hazed brown with an excellent light khaki head. The aroma is full of rich caramel malt, a nice note of american hops flowing around underneath and a distinctly tropical fruitiness. It’s almost like watermelon bubblegum and passionfruit. This is a pretty interesting big beer.

Vintage 2007 Bottle courtesy of Immy. Pours brown and cloudy with thick tan head and nice lacing. Caramel malts and dark fruit on the nose. Flavors follows suite with a twist of citrus, and hops. Big time alcoholic finish.

22oz bottle, 1357 of 2007. Thanks to Tim (Immy) for this one. Clear orange red with a one finger creamy beige head, pretty decent retention. Aroma of juicy raisins, citrusy and resiny hops that are just beginning to show signs of age, scorched caramel, and a bit of something salty. Sort of a fruitcake thing going on. I agree with the label that it should probably under (American) barleywine as opposed to ASA. Earthy bitterness is apparent from the get go only to give way to some caramel malt and tangy raisin and fruit characteristics. There was also a bit of moist tobacco in there somewhere before the slightly chalky, bitter (4-5 out of 10) dry finish. Alcohol was masked well, though I could tell this had some heft to it--maybe around 9% ABV as a guess. On the lower end of carbonation with a full body. Pretty good stuff.

22oz bottle 7/19/09 (Courtesy of Immy)-Pours a dark brown with with a small tan ring for ahead. Aroma of malt, fruits, caramel, and slight hops. Taste of malt, raisin, fruit, caramel, and sweetness. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and the alcohol shows up as it warms up. Nice brew and quite tasty.

Bottle shared by Daknole @ Hellbilly’s. Thanks DAK!!! Not a huge fan of this one...chestnut brew with a light tan head. Dark fruit, brown sugar, and tons of pepper...a bit much, really. Kind of boring.

Amber-brown in colour, thin tan coloured head, light lacing. The aroma is of light piney hops, some caramel sweetness, earthy, some fruit. The flavour has quite a hop bite, a toffee sweetness but at the same time rather bitter, seems sugary. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes quite long, lots of hops, some sweetness, dry. Not bad, got a bit boring.
