4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Hazmatt (363) - Virginia, USA - SEP 22, 2008Bottle 0479 of 2007. Pours a dark amber, opaque ale with a very thin, almost non-existent head. Very rich, robust aroma of malt, caramel, coffee; hints of citrus fruit but little hop aroma. Strong malt flavor, hops (bitterness) more pronounced in flavor than aroma. Strong ale? Moreso than a "unique barleywine" as described on label. Full bodied. Decent alcohol strength and very satisfying. Overall pretty damn good.

31st May 2010 Muddy brown beer. Short lived creamy tan head. Softish palate. Rich malt, tastes a little aged with a little chocolate. Seamless light tangy orange hops. Smooth and very drinkable malty beer and another winner from Alewerks!

Courtesy of ksurkin. Pours dark ruby red with tan head. The aroma is smooth sweet inviting goodness with a mix of pine, sweet ripe cherry yumminess, chewy malts and concentrated plum juice. The taste is rich and yummy with pine hops, ripe cherries, sweet malts, more pine hip resiny-ness, plums and sugar stewed raisins. Wow! Love it!

bottle 1452/2007 by way of dakine on 3/21/10.
cloudy brick reddish tinted brown with a thin tan head.
the nose is quite vinous.... seems a bit barrel aged since it is very spicy and peppery... also, notes of brown sugar, vanilla and malt.
the palate is fairly dry especially given the abv%... it tastes mostly how it smells and contains even more of the peppery spice that the aroma.
medium bodied with a touch of bitterness. 7/3/7/3/15/3.5
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 markwise (3833) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 26, 2010
Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours dark amber with creamy tan head. Nose is malt, cherry, caramel, some pine, brown sugar/ molasses, and bitterness. Flavor is lots of cherry and fruit with caramel, malt, and pine. Medium body with lingering caramel and bitter. Medium bodied with lingering caramel and bitterness. I can understand the ASA distinction, but it does have many qualities of a barleywine.

Bottle shared by Daknole @ Hellbilly’s. Thanks DAK!!! Not a huge fan of this one...chestnut brew with a light tan head. Dark fruit, brown sugar, and tons of pepper...a bit much, really. Kind of boring.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 5, 2010
Bomber-pours a clear deep amber with a modest lasting head. Aroma is sweet, ok grassy and good citrus hops, caramel earthy and spiced, quite a bit of phenolics and some nutty toffee malts. Flavor is a big sharp dark crystal malt backbone, gets a bit harsh and earthy, burnt toffee, caramel, nuts slight chocolate and burnt paper- overall a bit messy and the malts are a bit too overdone and harsh. Eh.
