Pours a dark black. Aroma is very sweet. Taste is almost opposite of my beers I drink - sweet up front, hop on back. Palate is a little thinner than normal imperial stout. Overlal a solid beer.

Very good beer. Nose is somewhat mild, slightly boozy coffee. Flavor is a ton of coffee, some vanilla from the bourbon and a hop finish. This is remarkable considering all the flavors and that I’m drinking a bottle that’s a year old. Mouthfeel is medium, not as heavy as some imperial stouts but it never lacks taste. Finishes hoppy. Overall high quality and I was quite happy with it.

Mystery beer...Bottle poured into a perfect pint glass...Dark brown, light black pout with a tan head that rises quickly but lacking in retention. A few spots of lacing...A really nice aroma of chocolate, wood and cherry...The taste is like the aroma chocolate with coffee, cherry, and a bit of the barrel. A weird finish, that kind of kills it, acidic...The feel is too thin for, pretty easy to drink. Didn’t know what to expect here but not bad at all.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice medium size dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of very nice aromatic coffee notes with some light bourbon notes and light vanilla. Taste is a very smooth mix of bourbon and aromatic coffee with well rounded roasted malt with light vanilla and bourbon finish. Body is quite full with nice creamy texture and some good carbonation. Very well brewed with great balance and easily drinkable while being quite complex at the same time.

Bottle thanks to Robert. Pours black. Brown head. Nose and taste of bourbon barrel, roast chocolate malt, ultra fresh coffee beans and vanilla. Body is a bit thin. Bourbon overpowers at times due to the thinness of the body. Otherwise, excellent.

Cletus (6177) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 10, 2011
Bottle courtesy of ksurkin. Pours dark brown with a thin sparse carbonation. Smells of roasted malt, some coffee beans, bourbony hints, dry oaky elements. Tastes of bourbon up front that gives way to mild underlying coffee beans, molasses, some vinegary hints, some light spice, vanilla. The beer also picks up some light cherry notes as the beer warms. Body is a little thin on this and the bourbon is a little over the top, but otherwise an interesting beer.

Flavor and Palate : Sweet mid bodied ale with good balancing coffee dryness. Great coffee feel. Finishing with some alcoholic notes. Very neat.

650 ml bottle from Dkachur. Thanks Dan. Pours a opaque dark brown color with a small tan head that soon fades to a fine ring. The aroma is complex and bold with bourbon, dark fruits, leather, tobacco and roasted grains. The flavor is similar to the nose with ample bourbon, salty leather, biter walnuts, roasted grains and sweet dark fruits. The palate was creamy with lively carbonation. The finish was medium in duration, dry and just a bit acidic. Overall: Wow, I loved this, a very tasty brew with a fantastic nose. Thanks again Dan, you rock.

A coffee story. I am not a coffee drinker, still excellent coffee. A lace sheet. Wafting coffee aroma. Dry roast, sugar, black body, coconut from barrel. Medium mouthfeel. Best is its not acidic. Radek’s bottle.

Picked this up at Rick’s in Alexandria not too long ago. Pour brings a near-black liquid with a thin mocha head that has some pretty good staying power. This is definitely a coffee bomb--the nose really loads in some nice, fresh coffee that is fairly dark and roasty. The taste scales the coffee down a tad bit in exchange for some dry roast and hints of chocolate. Feel is quite nice. This is somewhat thick but dry and roasty. Finishes well. I haven’t had that many beers from Williamsburg at this point, although the ones I have tried have been quite good. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-18-2010
