"This is our Coffeehouse Stout amped up to 8% abv and aged for a couple of months in Virginia Gentleman Reserve Bourbon Barrels. Another unique AleWerks beer which blends the rich, coffee-milk stout flavors with those of vanilla and bourbon."

Shared generously by a few folks in line at the Brandy Hunahpu release. Thanks! Nose is vanilla and bourbon with caramel and tons of chocolate. Roasted notes rounded this one out making it smell like a mocha cafe with some vanilla (according to the wife). Sweet smelling. Dark brown pour, khaki head. Taste is sweet up front with subtle notes of bourbon and vanilla. The main attraction is how well the bourbon played with the chocolate and coffee notes. Well balanced and easy to sip with a sweet front and a lightly bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours dark brown with a pretty dense head of dark tan foam. The nose is powerful with strong coffee, light bourbon, vanilla, and milk chocolate notes. The flavor is rich and delicious with just enough sweetness to balance out the roasted malt bitterness. The wood, bourbon, chocolate, and coffee all come together harmoniously. Rich in body with just the right amount of carbonation leading to a decadent and lasting finish. Their best brew for sure.

Huge thanks to watson1977 for this one! Pours brown black little oily and barely any head, but a thin tan collar. Aroma is sweet mix of bourbon and coffee and roasted malt, but the coffee really shows through!. Taste is bitter upfront with the coffee and chocolate and then the bourbon just barely shows its self with some slight wood and vanilla and roasted malt all around. Palate is full and slick, slightly oily and finishes dry. Very enjoyable and drinkable!

Bomber. Poured medium-dark brown with a creamy, well-retained brown head. The aroma picked up assertive, very welcoming roasty coffee paired with tangy bourbon upfront.. light lactic notes and more coffee beans beneath.. a deeper dive brings out toasted oak and earthy hoppage.. not terribly complex, but nothing I didnít like in there. The flavor opened with tangy bourbon and related barrel, then gave way to a thick, roasty, and tasty coffee impression.. sweeter coffee and some lactic notes joined toward the back.. good coffee/bourbon interplay on the long finish.. just a few too many residual sugars in there, but everything was tasty. Medium-ish bodied with the right amount of carbonation to keep it moving through the palate.. again, it wasnít too complex, but it didnít need to be.

Bottle. Black pour, tan head, good retention/some lace. Aroma of cocoa, bourbon, vanilla, roast, wood, coffee. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, bourbon, bakerís chocolate, light roast. Palate is full, creamy, soft, a bit slick, rich bourbon finish. All around nice, and very drinkable at 8%.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective barrel-aged beer tasting on 08/11/2012. Opaque black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Lots of roasted coffee in the nose, plus some bourbon. Medium to full body with a big roasty character of coffee and malt along with some bourbon and fruit in the background. The finish is mildly bitter coffee and malt. Good beer from start to finish.

22oz bottle: Pours a mostly opaque black with dark mahogany edges and a thin ring of white bubbles. Has a sweet dark caramel and chocolate aroma with lots of coffee and vanilla bourbon oak. Body starts rich, chewy and sweet with some roasted coffee notes, vanilla, bourbon and dark chocolate before a slightly cloying bittersweet finish. Could be a little more attenuated, but has good coffee and bourbon complexity.
