4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
When I crowned this bitch, I immediately held it over the sink on account of its excessive pppfffttt! Pours a black ale with a huge light mocha foam, in line with the acoustics provided. Leaves a solid webbing of lace. Smells of oak, vanilla, coffee, sweet cocoa - to be honest, my first sniff made me immediately think of KBS - but easier to get. Really pleasant nose. Flavor is robust with bitter coffee, semisweet chocolate, oak, bits of vanilla and tannin. Body is a hint light probably on account of itís excess carbonation and dry finish. If the body was adjusted, I think the beer would be leaps better, as it warms it achieves this a bit, but still, the beer is negatively affected by these limits.
After awhile, and plenty of swirling, the carbonation died down and the mouthfeel became medium heavy with a really nice finish. This also allowed for more of the sweetness in the flavor to come through, bumped the mouthfeel from 2.25 to 3.5 (since the issue was present) and the flavor up from 4 to 4.5.

4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Complex. This beer has been aging for a whole. The head disappeared quickly and their is not a strong aroma. But the flavor is intense and the deep red to black color fantabulous. A great sipper for an autumn night.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of Iphonphan in Denver. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy dark tan head and an oily consistency. The aroma is rich creamy alcoholic roasted malt. The flavour is strong bitter with a roasted malt creamy boozy coffee chocolate palate. Silky smooth and a whale contender.

Bottle, courtesy of Iphonefan. Pours a pitch black with a creamy, huge beige head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, molasses and coffee. Flavour is very sweet, alcoholic, molasses and rich on malted flavors. Big oak barrel influence in the flavor. Aftertaste is very sweet and long lasting. Velvet, smooth mouthfeel. Very nice brew

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells like fresh ground french roast, flavor is initially very intense but smooth coffee. Not overly bitter. The middle is earthy and slightly sweet and watery for a moment and then the coffee comes back in a slightly dry finish that has a sweet, espresso-like fruitiness and at the same time is a little peppery. The bourbon isnít super forward, but itís there. Although the body is a little lighter than what I wanted, the mouthfeel really works. On the pour and the first sip, youíll feel underwhelmed - but when it all comes together, it really is an excellent stout.

22 oz. bottle from ksurkin. Pours a dark brown to black color with a small creamy khaki head. The aroma and flavor had big dark roasted coffee notes, chocolate, well integrated bourbon character, vanilla and some background bitterness to the finish. Solidly balanced flavors, first class.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours relatively nice. A little light on the head for the style. Smell is weak coffee, light, light oak, and syrupy chocolate malt. No bourbon.
Flavor is more of the same, but without any real coffee. The oak is a little stronger, but the bear in general is too round and it feels as though the barrel aging actually stripped this beer of character while not adding much.
It isnít a bad beer, but for the style, look elsewhere.
