UPDATED: NOV 16, 2010 FIRST RATING! 22oz bomber, fresh from the brewery, dated 9/2/2010. pours a silky, thick black with a full, two-finger, dark beige head with hints of red around the edges leaving beautiful lacing. aroma is utterly fantastic with big, woody, bourbon notes at the outset that settle beautifully into the background of huge roasted coffee, dark chocolate cake, vanilla, and light coconut with subtle touches of dark fruit and toffee. flavor is spectacular, and iím a homer so itís perfect, with an absolutely flawless balance of fresh, roasted coffee, espresso, and dark chocolate mocha with a light, creamy, lacto-sweetness sliding through ahead of smooth oak, vanilla, and spicy bourbon with a long, ashy malt, bitter chocolate, and roasted coffee finish. palate is sublimely full bodied, silky smooth, and damn near milkshake-esque creamy with perfect carbonation and incredible drinkability. overall, without a doubt one of the five best bourbon barrel aged stouts iíve ever tasted. bravo, geoff. *re-rate* aww, hell this brew is just getting better and better every time i open another bottle. perfect 5 for this VA homer!

The perfect stout? Great aroma, smooth, lots of coffee and chocolate with the wood/bourbon/vanilla taste barely perceptible, but still lurking in the background. Worth the 4.2 rating it has so far....great beer at $8/bomber. Have had many stouts 2-3x the price that werenít nearly as good. Hope they keep brewing more like this. Time to head back to the store and clear out their supply...

Bottle at a bottle share. Pours a near black color with a small tan head on it. Nose has some huge coffee elements to it. Tastes very smooth with some great roasting and coffee notes in there. Huge fan of this one.

My first alewerks brew and this one has a lot of great things going on. I have a few in my cabinet that will keep me well stocked

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2010 Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aromas of coffee, bourbon and chocolate. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and a little coffee. Mouth coating and a finish that lasts a long time. An absolutely awesome effort for the gang at Alewerks! OK, Iím a homey, but this is really really tasty!

Awesome, best coffee stout I have tasted in years. I love it, the barrel aging only adds to the complexity. This is one heck of a brew!

Bottle, to drown my sorrows after the Ravens AFC Championship choke. The aroma is soothing my pain already ... rich with dark fruit and vanilla. And oh my, does this beer deliver some amazing flavor. Most bourbon barrel-aged beers soak up a full-on whisky essence. This beautiful creation, on the other hand, has a nice subtle oaky edge, but the sweet milk chocolate and mellow coffee flavor keeps the front seat all the way. What a work of art. Superb. In every way. This is smooth and silky and finishes just as nice as it begins. Very much a favorite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Pours black with a thin brown head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Wonderful flavors; chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and wood. Certainly on the Imperial end of the stout spectrum but this one isnít too heavy. This is an improvement on the regular Coffehouse Stout and is the worth the "mini-hype" it is receiving and deserves.

Ksurkin with a great hookup. Thanks ken! Dark brown pour small tan head. Aroma is a wonderful mix of bourbon, coffee, chocolate, prunes and molasses. Flavor is sweet, loaded with fresh coffee, light fruity bourbon notes, and some great bitter chocolate. Great brew. Delicious!
