This is a charming beer with lightly roasted notes and prominent coffee notes. A bit sweet but finishes roasty and nice.

Pours a deep, nearly-black brown color, but it is topped by only a fine wisp of a coffee-foam head. The aroma is a rich, roasty, iced-coffee character over more subtle notes of bittersweet cocoa and caramel malts. The flavor are surprisingly sweet compared to the aroma, with a heavy caramel malt backbone that overwhelms the roast and coffee characteristics. The texture likewise detracts, with a low-level of carbonation that results in a moderately syrupy feel that further enhances the over-sweetness.

12oz bottle. Dark brown with a ruby hue, light brown head that fades to nothing. Lots of chocolate (sweet), fair amount of coffee, sweet malts, hints of vanilla. Moderate carbonation, mild+ body, little thin, two sweet for my liking, bit of celery, don’t enjoy the aftertaste.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine - Vienna, 3/20/13

Aroma: The nose is sweet malts and coffee, some vanilla, and a little caramel
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a small tannish-brown head and drippy lace
Flavor: This one is fairly sweet for a coffee stout, definitely coffee, but also lots of sweet malts
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a smooth, creamy feel, and mild dryness
Overall Impression: This is a pretty solid coffee stout. It’s pretty much what you’d expect it to be, though It leans toward the sweet side for sure. Pretty good stuff.

Xtra’d in a trade. Sweet! Aroma is big roasted coffee, chocolate, and smokey campfire notes. Pour is murky, hazy black with a thin khaki head that dies rapidly, leaving nothing in the glass. The flavor is fresh coffee, chocolate, some light molasses, roast, and raisins. Pretty nice.

Grape and Gourmet bottle. This is almost a stout accented coffee and not the other way around...no complaining from me because I love coffee. Really quality ingredients give this a nice depth of flavor. Nice shots of sweet and bitter in the finish. Well done.

Almost black/dark brown. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavor was classic stout. The coffee, dark roasted malt, and chocolate came through. Very nice brew.
