Bottle. Pours black with no head. Aroma is almost all coffee. Taste is coffee forward and finishes with a strong roasted malt note. A little thin but very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2015 BJCP Category: 16A Sweet Stout

AROMA: Dark malt, some lactose sugar. No deeply roasted malt or coffee. Mild nose overall. 7/12

APPEARANCE: Dark black, seemingly opaque. Brown foam almost completely dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: A general dark maltiness. Slight sweet, almost cola flavor from the lactose. No distinct hop presence. Coffee is mostly faded. Metallic flavor on the finish. 10/20

MOUTHFEEL: Fairly light body; low carbonation. Feels like flat soda. Clean finish. 2/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Bottle was almost six months old which explains the weak palette and body. Probably good fresh. 4/10

TOTAL SCORE: 25/50

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thanks Drake! Dark black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of acrid coffee grounds, some acid, roast, slight earth, cocoa, slight dark fruit. Taste was a mix of ash, smoke, coffee grounds, hints of acid, roast, and a touch of cocoa, finishing bitter.

12 oz bottle from Samís for 2.29. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is coffee, slight vanilla, a little roasty and a little sweet. Taste is coffee up front, slightly sweet and smoky on the back end. Nothing overwhelming; just an easy-drinking stout. Body is about average, not too heavy or too light. Overall a decent enough coffee stout.

On draft. Pours black with brown edges and a tan head. Huge coffee kick on the nose. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy, just right. Great coffee flavor with a nice roasty kick at the end.

Near black pour with a khaki head that fades to a film. Aroma is bitter black coffee and bakerís chocolate. Taste is coffee with cream and sugar, milk chocolate and toffee. Medium body. Drinks like a bigger stout. Pretty good.

Hmm, another stout from Alewerks, Iím sure this will be delicious. Huge coffee and chocolate aroma mixed with peanut butter and some toffee. The coffee aromas are just delicious though. Taste is like a chocolate, covered coffee peanut butter sandwich. So many awesome flavors working to make this beer what it is. I love that each flavor is itís own and they donít just get lost in the shuffle. I hate to be a weird fanboy, but Alewerks beers are super great and this is another awesome one. Cheers!

from a 2015 bottle. Pours a dark brown, with a decent tan head. Big smells of coffee, peanuts, bourbon, and some sweet notes, maybe vanilla. The taste is spot on for such a newly bottled beer. Great blend of coffee and bourbon. Hard to tell it has such a high ABV by the way this one goes down. Nice and creamy to the pallet, this is one of the best aged coffee beers of the year!
