Draft at Taphouse/Queensway. Dark brown and fairly "regular" looking fro an American brown. Nutty and caramel all the way, but evenly spread, quite drinkable and unoffensive. Creamy mouthfeel. The finish is a bit shallow and a let down; otherwise a good beer. (#5341, 11/23/2013)

Mom brought this one back from a trip to Williamsburg. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with faint orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty molasses, nut and wood. The flavor was malty, dryish and a bit bitter with notes of wood, nut and pretzel. Medium length bitter finish with lingering wood an nut. Medium body. Meh.

Picked this up in Colonial Williamsburg. Pours a deep brown, minimal head. The aroma is roasted malt, oats, brown sugar. Nice malty taste that goes down smooth. Great brown ale!

Poured a rich dark amber with an aroma heavy in molasses and brown sugar. Like most browns, this was a very sweet but very refreshing drink. Easily one of my favorite brown ales.

Bg thanks to my friend Jeff for bringing this back from the Va for me. Dark brown pour with off white head. Big roasted grain aroma. Smooth malt body with lots of roasted grain and Cara malts in the taste. Good session brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: dark chestnut brown with a short fizzy off-white head that disappears quickly, leaving no lace. Aroma: ginger snaps, molasses, chocolate, brown sugar, and a hint of smoke. Taste: roasted nuts (chestnuts and hazelnuts), toffee, molasses, a bit of caramel and toast. Finish: long, smooth, slightly sweet, with a hint of smoke. Notes:This is a great brown ale. Flavors and aroma are just what they should be: malty, nutty, and sweet. Only sub-par aspect was the lack of a decent head to capture all that great aroma.

Not a bad brown ale, no head, but smooth and authentic. Overall good beer from the shop in Williamsburg.

The aroma was a nutty coffee. It pour a rich dark, black color like your morning coffee but with a solid head. I did not find this beer sweet at all. It was a rich hazelnut coffee, that finished fairly clean. I did not find it that complex, it was an ok beer.

Bottle from the Wine Cellar. Pours fairly dark brown with a slight tan head that fades to a persistent halo with a bit of lacing. Big sweet, nutty toffee aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. Taste is very much the same. Smooth but not overly sweet. Finishes kind of dry with a lasting nuttiness on the tongue.
