Draft @ Willi. I was tempted to list this under "Broaters Porter," but the differences in alcohol, hopping, and overall description suggest it deserves its own listing. Pours a dark cola-brown color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Cola, dried dark fruits, and soft brown sugar notes in the aroma; some toasty oatmeal character comes through. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of dried dark fruits, candy sugar, cola, and oily dark fruits upfront; relaxed carbonation; toasty, creamy oatmeal notes, roasted malts, and some bitter minerals coming through on the back end; nicely toasty and drinkable. Lengthy finish: oily dried dark fruits, cola, and brown sugar; toasty oatmeal at the far end.

Pours brown with a thin off white head. Smells of oatmeal, some pepper, hints of roasted malt. Tastes of sweet malt, some chocolate hints, oatmeal, a touch of spiciness. Enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown with a beige head. Nose is hard to discern; wait for this guy to warm. Once warmed up a bit, a nutty, sweet brown sugar emerges. The flavor is English toffee, with a distict nuttiness behind it. The brown sugar makes an appearance in the finish, leaving a slightly toasty, sweet finish, but very dry in the center of the tongue. Simply beautiful!

Sample. Black. Thin ring of head. Body initially creamy, but a bit thin towards the end. Just a twinge of port and molasses in the nose; fairly sweet. Almost watery, really way too thin and lifeless, a rare failure from this fine establishment.
