LilBeerDoctor (1486), East Setauket, New York, USA Nov 14, 2009 Growler from the brewpub. Pours black with a small ring of tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, roasted nuts, chocolate, peanut butter. Flavor is equally nutty, with some charred roasted malt and bitter chocolate. Excellent porter with a nice blend of roasted malt, nuts, and chocolate. Very drinkable too. Well done!

hophead75 (1952), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Dec 6, 2008 sampled at the brewpub. Almost black in color with ruby highlights at the bottom of the glass. Tan lasting head. Aroma- alot of chocolate, some roast, dark fruit, chalk and molasses. Taste has alot of chocolate and some roast, some dark fruit, and medium bodied with a good caramel backbone. Excellent porter Cletus (5044), Connecticut, USA Sep 11, 2008 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, lactic, some dark fruit. Tastes of bitter roasted malt, lots of sweetness to counteract the bitterness, some chocolate, some licorice hints. Nice! joebudzjoe (224), Connecticut, USA May 18, 2008 At the pub. Yum yum yum. Even in a simple pint glass, this porter’s aroma is potent. A nicely textured beer, hints of dark chocolate, vanilla & coffee float around the palate. I don’t like to pick favorites, but this is one of the best Willi has offered. elihapa (1044), Honolulu, California, USA May 17, 2008 on tap at brewpub. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aroma of toasted notes, wood and coffee. Palate was surprisingly light with little carbonation. However, this beer has delicious flavors of coffee, ash, hops, and semisweet chocolate. Maybe some dark fruit in there as well. Finishes fairly dry. Overall, very impressive. LooseCannon (926), Norfolk, Virginia, USA May 6, 2008 On tap at the Brewpub. Pours pitch black in color with brown head. Aroma chocolate, coffee and sweet aroma. Taste of coffee and dark chocolate with bitter dark chocolate. Outstanding flavor. Miguel (1181), Saint-Ours, Quebec, Canada Jun 3, 2007 Robe noire surmontée d’une mousse blanche. Arômes légers de malt torréfié. Saveurs légères de malt, de vanille et de torréfié. Texture crémeuse. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Dec 16, 2006 Enjoyed a pint of this one on draught at the brewpub in Willimantic, CT. Pours to a jet black color, with a creamy, tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is just fantastic, with lots of good chocolate, coffee, and mild roasty notes, with hints of piney hops. The palate is rich and soft on the tongue with really fresh, delicious chocolate, coffee, and mild roasty flavors. This beer finishes with more really delicious and flavorful chocolate and coffee flavors up front, then ends roasty and with some nice piney hop bitterness. Wow. Such a delicious, flavorful beer that is just so drinkable. This beer was a phenomenal match with their Oreo cookie pie on the desert menu. Very impressive beer from my favorite brewpub.
