Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear brown color with a large off-white head. Average head retention. Aroma of chocolate, nutty and spicy notes. The taste is herbal, minty hops, a tart note and chocolate. Medium bodied. Interesting.

Draft at the source. Hazy chestnut color, tan head. Aroma of dusty cocoa and coffee beans. Taste is very roasty with just a bit of funk at the finish. Decent.

Nice dark toasty flavors. Light Saison type yeast. This yeast strain isn’t very Saison like but unique in it’s own way

On tap at the brewpub. Aroma mixes toasty malts with a subdued Saison yeast. Flavors ate dominated with a great range of Brown Porter-like malt range. Dry and toasty. Good, if malt focused.

In short: A roasted chocolaty dark Belgian ale. Decent beer, not much of a Siaons.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Brown body topped by a very small beige head
In long: The nose is mostly roasted and milk chocolate. Taste is very roasted, fudge cake, lots of milk chocolate, cacao, earthy hops. A bit sweet. I don’t doubt the beer uses a Saison yeast but it does not some trough. Another dark Saison that doesn’t deliver. Not a bad beer at all but not much of a Saison. I really don’t want to sound like some kind of racist just because of the beer color, but Saisons should be pale color beers. And black people should not ride in our buses.

Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. Sounded interesting. Third of three saisons on tap.Black body with light brown head. Unfiltered dark, 8 malts, hopped by Sybilla, Crystal. Very shwartzbier-like, roasty, some chocolate, omplex. Unfortunatelythe roast comes on strong, coffee-grindish.

Ancient backlog. Aroma roasty, nutty, chocolaty, some marshmallow, more like a porter so far. Flavor very nutty with a good deal of caramel sweetness, some earthy hops, and later some sweet coffee. Definitely came across to me as a nice porter...

(growler) Brown-black body with creamy tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, some vanilla, chocolate, molasses, light spice. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, light spice, vanilla, faint alcohol. Medium body. The Belgian yeast characteristic is very mild, leaving this beer as more porter/stout than saison.

On tap at the brewpub. This is not your typical saison; it is more of a porter. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of rich roasted malt, toffee, and caramel. Flavor is quite roasted with some sweet malt, alcohol, vanilla, and parmesean cheese. It’s just ok for me, nothing about it really grabbed my attention. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)
