On tap at the brewpub. Almost black with a tan head. Rich nose, full of roasty malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Lightly bitter dark chocolate flavors, smooth coffee, roasty. Firm but silky smooth mouthfeel. Excellent!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Enjoyed a pint of this one on draught at the brewpub in Willimantic. This beer pours to a murky, jet black color with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excelllent with lots of good aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, hop aroma, and roast. The palate is firm, with lots of big dark chocolate, and roasty flavor, paired with just a touch of estery fruit. This beer ends with more big dark malt and coffee up front then ends very dry, and roasty, with roasted barley flavor that lingers on the tongue. A very flavorful, very robust porter, that makes for a great pint of beer, and was a really fantastic match with a juicy ribeye steak with sherry butter, grilled to perfection.
