4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ernesto987 (2442) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 14, 2013
on draft at brewery, new recipe, I’ve had some of their older sours and they were really tough to get around. This one is MUCH better. Tart as hell, lactousy, hoppy, very rich, malty tart finish. Good stuff, really like it. Sour though.
(2/12) Our barrel aged tart blend of various non hoppy or dark beers. We have a proprietary concoction of wild yeasts all in a weird harmonic symphony of flavors which are ever changing. This unique one keg release is not your macro brew. 7.7% abv (12oz. only)

Tap at Night of the Funk. Acid and peanut brittle aroma, some cherry, barrel. Dead orange-red pour. Tons of beanut brittle flavor, minor tart, some cherry. Not too bad. Everyone else seemed to hate it.

BBF 08 NOTF. Pours a deep woody amber, mostly hazy and a diminsihing head. Aroma is cherry pit, almost flemish red like, some acidity, ligth bourbon and hints of oak- reminded me also of a weaker cuvee de Tomme. Fruity, big woody flavor, lots of big malts, barleywine-like crossed with flemish red and some funk and acidity in the end. Pretty good, but I had about 4-5 other beers that reminded me of this beer that night and most of them were a bit better.

Tap sampled on 09/26/08 at Night of the Funk. Pours a dirty brown with no head. Aroma of whiskey. Flavor of whiskey. I didn’t know there was supposed to be whiskey in here. Where’s the beer?
