Glouglouburp (1872), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 13, 2008 In short: An herbal Belgian-ish ale. Not great but quite original.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a little white ring of foam
In long: This is their Belgian Showers infused with black currant tea and there is indeed notes of black currant flavours and the beer does feel rather herbal (green grass). Fruity yeast with no specific fruit flavour, probably because the black currant tea is concealing them. The basic ale carbonation is not appropriate, this beer needed the expansive Belgian style carbonation. Dry finish. Overall this beer gets points because it is interesting and different but it loses as many because it really is not that pleasant. Although not a successful experiment we now finally have a beer for all those times when we’re dying for a black-currant tea and a Belgian Ale.
