COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Our black IPA, Conqueror is a rich, complex and very distinctive ale. It is brewed with a careful blend of five speciality malts along with Summit and Cascade hops to produce an intense combination of roasted flavours balanced with full fresh pine hop aroma.

Aroma: intense caramel and bread malts, dark fruits, some floral hops. Appearance: clear, very dark brown, small, beige head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: toasted malts, light beacon, getting slightly bitter and dry in the finish. Overall: nice Black IPA, well-balanced and relatively complex. Pint at The Willow Walk, Victoria.

Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear, dark chestnut brown. Thick, bubbly, lasting tan head. Light roast malt. Lots of fruit, mostly citrus. Some dark toffee. A little mintiness. Some tropical fruit on the end. Taste is dry, and moderately bitter. Palate is smooth, although there’s a little astringency. Finishes dry, and zesty bitter. Good, but a little tart.

On cask at Hamilton Hall (JDW), Liverpool St. Pours black brown with tan head. Well hopped black IPA, very fragrant and easy drinking. Good stuff.

Cask in the North London Tavern NW6. Unusual pint this. Dark brown red colour, minimal head. Real attack of malt flavours, treacle, caramel, licorice, something smokey. Some hop bitterness. To me felt more malty than hoppy, more estery and less clean, in many ways more interesting than many of the American Black IPAs. I wasn’t fully convinced whether I liked it so had to have another one. It has though given me a rotten hangover.

Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival on the 3rd October 2014. Cask, gravity dispense. Opaque black mahogany in colour with a thin buff head. Strong Del Monte tropical fruit salad present in the intense hoppy aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt complex gives a burnt black toast note initially and then strong juicy tropical fruit notes of pineapple, mango and lychees full in the mouth. Strong, dusty citrusy hop flavours present in the long bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty and eclectic with dry black malt grains jarring against the sweeter tropical fruit salad flavours. A decent session Black IPA and worth trying.

500 ml bottle - Thick black appearance, with a frothy pale white head which disappears quickly. Smooth crisp taste.

Cask at the Jolly Coopers, Epsom on 30 August 2014. Pours black with a white head. Hoppy aroma, bitter finish. This was not a good pint, deserves a re-rate.

Lovely black IPA which is true to the style. Great American hop aroma and flavor. Not violent hoppy but delicious easy-drinking.

Cask, Reading beer festival. Conqueror was ok, I had high expectations given some of the reviews and whilst a decent drink, it wasn’t one i would rush back to. This is a dark IPA which seemed worth a try. It had a good caramel flavour mixed with the bitterness of the hops made for unusual beer.

Cask, The Pub, Leicester. Very dark brown with an off white, thin foam. Aromas are nutty and toasted with dark berries and black tea. Floral and spicy with hints of cola. Woody pine with hints of smokiness. Flavours are sweet toffee with nutty, berry coffee and woody pine. Dry black tea with herbal, almost minty notes to finish. Decent.
