2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Hermod (2195) - Vantaa, FINLAND - APR 20, 2013
50cl bottle, bb 11 Dec 13. Dark brown with a thin but lasting beige head. Weird aroma of smoke, roasted malt, wet mould, mild hops. Flavor has roasted malt, mild chocolate notes and hops. Dry, bitter hoppy finish. Aroma is better as the beer gets warmer. Barely ok.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 lusikka (4039) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 15, 2013
500 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with white foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, cream crackers, rubber and pine. Flavour of roasted malts, cream crackers, ash, floral hops and some tobacco. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a musty, roasty, creamy, slightly floral finish. A bit weird.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PaulW (80) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAR 26, 2013
Not a bad BIPA at all. Pours dark brown/black with thin white head. Aroma is roast and citrus, and this comes through in the taste - a kind of bitter chocolate orange. Bitter but not abrasive. Could do with a bit more weight, perhaps from a % or two more on the abv

Cask at Redbones (NERAX). 10.5 oz. pour for $3. Pours a purplish dark brown. Off-khaki head. Small and delicate. Aromas of poppy seeds, melon, ash, candle wax, and moss. Tastes of liquorice, ash, noble hops, peppercorn, and traditional yeast. Hit the spot.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BOBBDrinker (42) - - MAR 13, 2013
It seems like a mad idea to have a black IPA but Conqueror is a brilliantly balanced beer mainly consisting of roasted malt flavours with a subtle sharpness from the hops. The hops produce a mild aroma but not very strong the head like the beer is dark and fades quickly but the beer is very alive. This beer is a good example of the black IPA with a dry finish and a smoked malt flavour, it is worth a try if you want something different.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks troubles. Dark brown. Aroma of some roastiness, a bit of smoked meat notes and some hops, slightly stale. Sweetish flavor, roasty and a bit of smoky with some bitter hops, a bit grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dogbomb (632) - ENGLAND - JAN 12, 2013
Bottle. Dark brown, almost black pour with a fizzy tan head which fades a bit. Nose is sweets, like cola-cubes and pineapple chunks with a squeeze of real lemon. Taste is not as tart as I was expecting, and you can tell this is black - there’s a slight charcoal and toffee flavour in there amongst the coca-cola, pine, pineapple and grapefruit. Finish is sprightly, but doesn’t quite last long enough for me. Still, an interesting drink.
