3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Small offwhite head. Brilliant amber body with carbonation. Earthy caramelly toffee aroma with cinnamon notes. Dry-sweetish earthy caramelly toffee taste with spicy salty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry earthy cinnamon aftertaste lingers. Traces of sandalwood, too. A bit lacking in complexity and freshness, but far from bad. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com.)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 13, 2011 Cask at JDW Ealing, pours a copper-brown with a coarse but clingy white head. Clean hops and a little nut on the nose, a nice balance of nutty and roast malts plus bitter hops and just a touch of orange on the palate, then a juicy-malt finish with a lingering bitterness. Re-rate at the Magpie: peachy hop nose, great balance of chewy malt and floral spicy hops, fresh and lively. Very quaffable.

(Cask at Bree Louise, London) A normal bitter with clear nut flavour. Aroma was ok but nothing unsual. Drinkability was very good. The beer looked good, too.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask Conditioned Handpump Bree Louise London. An amber coloured beer with a thick white head. Biscuity again and tenuous fruit. As it progresses the fruits do become reasonable but again it’s the curse of The Bree. Roll on November 5th.

Well kept ale from cask, half, at Bree Louise, Euston. Golden-brown body topped by a low, off-white head. Smell of caramel malts with underlying spices. Spiced fruits and malts in flavour added by notes of almond. Some dark fruits, too. Bittersweet endnotes (London, 28.09.2010)
