Our first beer and we have high hopes that one day our pump clip will become as recognisable around Windsor as the Guard’s bearskin hats that the design it is based upon. Guardsman Best Bitter is a copper-coloured session strength ale with a tangy taste, smoothed by oak conditioning and a really fresh hop. It is brewed with premium Maris Otter pale malt and a blend of Pilgrim, Styrian Golding and Fuggles hops.

(Bottle) Clear amber beer with a decent off-white head. Caramel aroma. An almost sour fruit flavour along with a blend of malt and hop, and followed by a mostly hoppy dry finish. It’s a pity there’s not more aftertaste to it. Not especially exciting but very drinkable.

Lite sur. Som Pedigree. Undrar om det var ett gammalt fat? Ingen favorit. Men alltid trevligt med lokal öl.

Medium amber with thin lacey head and very soft carbonation. Light malty nose, bubblegum and spice. Nice malty taste with lots of biscuit, caramel, grass, quite sweet. Nice oily palate. Needs more bitterness in the finish, but overall a tasty pint.

Cask@gallows. Amber. Bready malts, herby earthy hops, english bitter yeast nose. Pretty strong on the herbal/green leafyness. Med bodied, soft, caramelly autumny leafy finish. Decent full flaviured caramelly, slight toffee bitter.

Cask pint at Wetherspoons, Victoria Station, London. Copper colour, low off-white head. Moderate aroma, malts, toffee and a hint of fruity hops. Pleasant flavour, decent hops with a hint of blackcurrants, malty and nutty notes too. Good beer.

Mid-amber with a complex aroma which encompasses both malt and hops. Flavour is of toffee overlaid with.hops. Finish is long and bitter. High hop rate and consequently quite a bitter beer. Good mid-gravity English bitter.

Cask at the Lyndhurst, Reading. Amber-brown with a moderate white head. Predominantly oaky flavour with a little caramel, unripe apple and grapefruit- not sure the grapefruit really goes. Slightly dry finish. Below par compared to what I’ve come to expect from this brewery, but not bad.
