COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.
Our second beer is Knight of the Garter, launched on June 14th to coincide with the Ceremony of the Garter at Windsor Castle. It is a straw-coloured Golden Ale (3.8% ABV) easy summer drinking with a distinctive fresh citrus hop aroma. As with Guardsman, it is brewed with premium Maris Otter pale malt from a traditional floor sweeping. Again we are using whole leaf hops – English Pilgrim in the copper and a blend in the hopback, including American Amarillo with their gorgeous orangey aroma.

Bottled. A slightly hazy golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and elderflowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of elderflowers and hops on a lightly malty background, leading to a bitter finish. The body is light. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear golden with a small off-white head. Fruity, citrusy nose with some distinct doughie British yeastiness. Medium body, doesn’t appear thin at all, a fresh fruitiness and a fairly good hop kick. 130711

[Cask at the Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield] Gold, half-hearted white head, slight to moderate carbonation; the appearance seems to be paying homage to industrial lagers! Fortunately it tastes much better than it looks - citrus flavours are at the forefront, with a bit of pine, some wheatabix malt and a moderate bitterness. It’s a reasonable refresher, if a little on the thin side. Went down a treat after the hike here from Beaconsfield station!

Medium white head. Clear golden body with light carbonation. Fruity floral strawy aroma with dusty notes. Dry-sweet strawy earthy fruity taste with floral resiny notes. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry-sweet floral fruity aftertaste with oranges, straw and dust notes. Very nice, and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com.)

BC. Pours orange-gold with a subsiding white foam. Aroma like your fingers after you’ve peeled an orange, with some parsley-like green herbs chucked in. Bright and tangy with resinous, tangerine and pine-accented hop balanced with honeycomb and generous, lingering biscuit. Really good.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 5th March 2011. Hazy amber with a thin film affording slight lacing. Lightly hoppy and quite clean both in aroma and liquid taste. Cheesy savoury note and rather enjoyable saline mouthfeel. Salt lingers in hoppy, grassy aftertaste. Loved it. Had two pints!

Cask (handpump - thankfully) at the Bree Louise on 5 November 2011. Rich gold colour. White head. Decent condition. Quite citric. Finishes distinctly dry. Very clean and refreshing. Excellent quaffer.
